press learn button on receiver,
press button in car until gate or door opens...
done.

In my car, I had to disable the DRLs (so they light up as part of the programming confirmation). I don't know how many years that goes back.

With a revolving code opener, I had to 1st program the car by pointing and firing a remote at the bumper after pushing the button in the car - DRL lights blink to confirm, then push the learn button on the opener and push the car button until the door operated.

Make sure the batteries in your remote are FRESH. I couldn't get mine to work and after several attempts I called the HomeLink help line and when I followed their suggestion to replace the batteries I didn't have any problems at all.

this is the way they say to do it.. but for me i have rolling codes and even clicking a few times it just didnt want to work... if you do the learn on the box it requires you to be under or near the "box" but you cant not make it work.. u click learn.. u press car button and whatever code comes out the unit learns and knows then thereafter.

try the first method above (if your DRL's cause the front bumper lights to be on you will have to disable the DRL's (it confirms the code learned in this method by blinking those lights when code accepted)

so in nut shell:

Method 1 (in book)
(car ignition turned to "on" but not neccesarily running.)
(DRL's set so that the bumper lights off (997.1=doesnt matter, 997.2=i think the LED's are part of DRL)
press and hold button in car, will start blinking after like 10 seconds...
walk to front of car , and press your garage door opener on the pass side like inward 5" from the headlight on the bumper.. press until the bumper lights blink...
press button in car to test... if works=good.

Method 2 (not in book but works regardless)
press learn on motor
press button in car a few times until door closes/opens
done.

I assume you are trying to program the homelink on your '06 Boxter. Here is the owner's manual for a 2007 911 Carrera. The homelink programming is probably the same.

Method 1 (I'd call it step 1) programs the car.

Method 2 (Step 2) Programs the Motor.

I had to do both.

Yup I had to do both as well. Method 1 basically get the homelink to talk to the garage motor, method 2 get them to sync up.

Same method used on all other cars I've tried.

You didn't specify which language, so just in case you need it in Italian.

Metodo 1 (in libro)
(accensione dell'automobile girata in " on" ma non necessariamente funzionando.) (DRL' la s in modo che il respingente si illumini fuori (997.1=does non materia regolata,
997.2=i pensa il LED' la s fa parte di DRL) la pressa e la stretta si abbottonano in automobile, si avvi lampeggiare dopo come 10 secondi… cammini per fronteggiare dell'automobile e premi il vostro apri del portello del garage dal lato del passaggio come 5" interno;
