So I can call BS on this (posted in another forum)

"10% off MSRP is actually a PCNA mandated discount. They absolutely must discount the cars at least 10% as per PCNA."

Legal issues aside, it seems to be complete BS but I could be wrong.

Thanks Rob. BTW my office partner and his brother met Roger Jobs in Germany on a Porsche tour, it may have been in 2006 when he picked up his C4S.

Cool, Roger is a true car nut - that's why it's fun working for him.

PCNA can not mandate that, nor did they. Thats a fun one, though. Thanks

What a load of BS, PCNA can tell you not to sell over sticker but they cant do a thing about how much you discount. Last night on my way home from NJ I stopped on the lot of a dealer and looked at their special pricing they posted on their cars. They had 5 left over 2008's which were priced higher then where we're selling the same model of 09.

Which is why they still have '08s left. I went through the same thing when buying my Screamin' Eagle Harley. The '08s were out and the dealer in south NJ had an '07 that he wouldn't budge on at all. I ended up with an '08 (with a lot of advances such as ABS) from another dealership for less than he wanted for his '07. Just doesn't make sense.

just talked to dealer in my area about a '09 coupe S w/PDK, 36mo, 10k/yr - MRM matched but he said residual was .52. he said "residuals are set by PCNA and the dealer has no say". BS? or are they set differently by region? fyi, i'm in the northeast. also, he is using a MF of .00166 but i also saw on here .00146. and i doubt they'd go more than 10% off sticker.

thoughts?

15k miles per year is 52%, add 3 points for 10k(low mileage adjustment), gives 55%. base money factor is .00146, maximum allowed markup is to .00186. At .00166, they are making a little money in reserve, but likely less than $1k.

i have a feeling they are screwing me on the residual too. i def said 10k/yr. like some others have pointed out, and might be true with this dealer - they could be playing hardball/unwilling to bend past a certain point, even tho the economy dictates they would be better off doing so.

is 10% off sticker for an '09 norm at this time? or, again, are they being hard nosed and should be yielding more?

it's hard to screw with someone on residual/mileage in that direction. Easy in the other direction, but wrong either way. More likely someone quoted numbers without hearing you say 10k, or paying attention when you said 10k, or something like that. 10% off an 09 is about what I'm doing, so its not far off in either direction.

09 S pdk coupe base residual is .52 and for 10k add 3 just like Alfie said. The same residual table is used by every dealer in the country and they're not supposed to use anything but the table. There is room in the money rate and again just confirming .00146 is the base rate with max allowable markup to be .0004. I agree with Alfie looks like he split the markup with you.

We've done deals on cars in stock for more than 10% off but I would say that 10% IMO is a pretty good deal depending on the exact car ie. color, options, days in inventory etc etc.

alfie, thanks much, i PM'd you.

trader220, you too.

fyi, i'm not having a go a dealers, so i apologize if it seems that way. i just feel my local dealer has never been as aggressive as they should be, esp in this economy.
