As the title implies, what are the options that you've either at one point had which you regretted getting (for monetary or otherwise), or have passed on that you wish you had gotten? Can be small stupid things, like getting trim painted, or big things like model variations, etc.

I could def. do without the power seats with memory (p15 I think). I would have liked Navigation; I hope I can add it and XM at some point.

I spent many hours contemplating my options before ordering my '08 C2S, and I think I got it just right for me. The only thing that comes to mind is that I MIGHT have preferred the Carrera Sport wheels over the Sport Designs that I ordered - not a big deal. I'm definitely glad I got the premium audio, two tone full leather and and sport exhaust. I'm definitely glad that I did not pay extra for sport chrono, fully electric seats with memory or the sub-standard nav that was available in '08. I think it is ridiculous that I can't use an Ipod in my car without spending money on aftermarket stuff, but there was nothing I could do about that. Oh, I also wouldn't be without my aftermarket V1 and Blinder laser jammers!

The Bose audio system was a waste of money. And I think if I could do it over again I would probably get an aftermarket exhaust system instead of the Porsche Sports Exhaust. I have heard some that sound better and also cost less.

I wouldn't buy the sport chrono again, I fiddled around with it once or twice and haven't touched it since.
I also never use the GSM phone option.

Should have gotten the PSE sport exhaust to begin with. I added it later and love it.

i like the sport mode but not the sport chrono itself. full leather is hard to clean but stiching looks nice, cab is nice at night but horrible during the day, power seats are nice but once set you never use them again,

so i guess what im trying to say is... they are nice but i could love without the above. if i ordered a new 997 today it would be white on blue coupe, no full leather, no power seats, with sport seats tho, no sport chrono, no bose, add the ipod hookup, just basically keep it simple

top of mind thoughts, in no particular order, flaming welcome

power seats not really necessary
heated seats would be nice on those really chilly days but i always figured they were for my parents, not me
auto dimming mirrors necessary (winter in seattle it's damn near always dark)
no rear wiper fine with me
carrera classic wheels - i still like them a lot - very individual choice
tiptronic - i miss the six speed but spend 90% of my non-track time in heavy traffic - i'm perfect PDK candidate
XM - love it
bose upgrade - lousy sound, considering upgrading audio
sport exhaust - love the sound and ability to turn it off
sport chrono - must for tiptronic, don't love the wart but i'm fine with it
all leather - i didn't buy it but i should have
painted silver center console - waste of money but i like it
painted airbag ring to match the silver console - glad it did it
bluetooth - i have tooki and it sucks but i need it - i would definately order the OEM on today's cars
nav - i use it, need it
carerra S - definately glad i got the S as opposed to the other choices
radar / laser shifter built in - absolutely necessary

With the aid of the Rennlist a few years ago I was able to soundly determine what options were popular and mission essential, and thus ordered a lot of stuff. It was good to order everything upfront and not have to later go, "I coulda had a V8..." Wouldn't change a thing.

I like my options.

I hate that I cannot retro self-dimming mirrors...or...I hate that they are not standard.

My car was on the lot - didn't want to wait for the May sales to end and pay a lot more for an ordered car with self-dimming mirrors though - that would have been some damned expensive mirrors.

Otherwise the car came pretty much as I would have ordered it.

I don't have the MF Wheel or Voice installed yet, so I don't know how worthwhile I will find them. If they are up to snuff with the BMW 550 versions, then I will be glad to have them - and I bet they will be, if not better.

I could live without the nav option, and i've never used the chrono thing. I wish they'd add a dipstick option.

I reckon Chrono makes more sense with PDK? I don't use the chronograph too often (but I like clock toys, so its cool), but the Sport and Sport+ mode make PDK much nicer to me - so for that, Sport Chono is worth having. I was almost not interested in it, but my sales guy - well, that guy kew how to read a customer and kept me on the right path. I think PDK without it would not be so great, whereas with it, you get six versions of PDK to choose from.
