love sport chrono with PDK, HATE (one of the few things in the world i hate) the wart, so overall it is good, but...
adaptive sport seats (sad i don't have them, i love 'em)
heated seats a must, especially in a Cab! in fact, a deal-breaker
dimming mirrors (mildly miss them)
LSD. great
love leather interior, but don't like supple leather
colored gauges a waste
all sorts of little leather do-dads in little places, a waste
ditto crests and colored wheels
carbon bits are gorgeous, but can live without it. very expensive!
don't understand noisy exhausts at all, especially if they add nothing to performance. what is the point?
curiously, i like lighted entry panels with model designation. kinda inviting and classy
dev stitch can be beautiful, or insignificant
X-51, i like anything that enhances performance, but PRICEY
"S"-absolutely necessary!!!
CCB's, love 'em, love the big yellow calipers, but not necessary. would however pay the upcharge if i was ordering they are just so cool
muti-function wheel, a waste for me. just a distraction

Mine is a really low-option car, with only classic wheels ordered. The only thing I would do differently is add the heated seats.

Default 997.2 Options

Hi,

I just went through the torouble of locating the dream 997.2 With the options, here are my thoughts.

1. power seats- A must if you have anyone transfering from a wheel chair into the passenger seat. Power seat gives you an extra inch high and low. I can confirm this, since I almost went non power. I think a car this expensive deserves this option.
2. BOSE- I love it, with the back seats down the base is down right BOOMY. I am not an audiophile.
3. NAV, Bluetooth, IPOD- Essential.

4. Dynamic Turning. This was contention. I thought I needed them. I have the standard BI XENON. Ends up it wasn't essential.

5 6 SPEED- essential. Why buy an automatic Porsche 911? PDK is amazing, but too easy for me. I would get bored not shifting. Plus the pure fun of hitting the right shift point is perfection in a sports car.

6. S Model. I went Base 997. Love the power, but I think the S is worth the price of admission. PASM is great I hear.

7. Dimming Mirrors. - essential. Don't take a car without em. Should be standard!

8. In the end, order the car, have the sales manager double check the car. When in doubt, if you think you might want the option, just get it. better safe than sorry.

9. Compare the look of bi xenon to dynamic look. Dramatically changes the appearance of the car. But I found does not make much difference driving at night. My choice would be to jsut add that option.

10. Color. Be sure you want and love the color. Interior color, I would do a two tone Dash.

11. My next 911 will be white with blue leather. I have Arctic Silver/black which I love too...

I regret not getting leather rear center console and storage lid (since I have full leather). I'd pass on multifunction steering wheel and heated seats next time.

No regrets here, except maybe color. I should have stuck with my original color choice of Slate Grey, but changed it at the eleventh hour. Other than that, no regrets.

Glad I got full leather.

Glad I got Bose high end audio.

Glad I got the NAV unit.

Glad I got Multi-function steering wheel.

Glad I got phone module that's operated by MFSW.

Glad I got factory Sport Shifter.

Glad I got self-dimming mirrors.

Glad I got full power seats.

Glad I got Porsche crest in headrests.

Glad I got colored Porsche crest wheel caps.

Glad I got Carrera Classics wheels.

Glad I didn't order that idiotic gadget they call Sports Chrono.

Didn't really load up my order back in 2005, but...
I swapped my Sport Design wheels for Carrera Sport wheels after about 18 months.
Love Sport Shift, Sport Exhaust.
Didn't use Sports Chrono much, until recently.
Didn't originally like the Bose, but I've changed my mind.

The one thing I don't like - I detest the remapped throttle when the car's in Sport Mode. Way too twitchy for 355 HP.

Why do so many call the self-dimming mirrors essential - interested in your particular reasons. Have not yet specced those on my August build car but can still do so. I do not like the darkened rear view mirrors (in other cars I've driven) at night - makes it too hard to identify particular cars behind me (read: cops).

I don't really care about self-dimming themselves, but I understand that without self-dimming mirrors you don't get switched power at the rear view mirror and I relied on that for wiring up my V1. I'd pay for the option just to have the simpler power run for the radar detector.

Regarding options, my thought was if it was going to be your
main driver, then I would get all the luxury comforts/gadgets
(nav., pwr seats, etc.).

However, if it is a toy you plan on having fun with on the weekends, then get a sharp set of wheels (Classic Carreras are my preference) and keep
the options fairly low. Also, fewer things to worry about
when the warranty has expired.

I've already said it elsewhere- the only option I regret not getting is Euro Delivery.

A power run for the detector is very simple. Just run it from below. It's much easier than you think.

The things most I regret on my current car are :

1. PDK (ruins the whole car)
2. Dynamic Lights
3. Cruise Control
4. Adaptive Seats (for the money they are barely any better than sports seats)

In cars as low as ours (997s), having that self dimmer when you are infront of a SUV is KEY.

Plus, on the rear mounted to the dash, there is a shut off switch.

Adam... dynamic turning lights? Really? I thought this was just a nice feature. It's the one I lamented not getting.

Isn't cruise control standard?

And any reason why PDK ruins the car? I have a 6 speed stick and was thinkign the next 911, I might try PDK.
