DME scan
i am considering purchase of a 2008 "PCNA executive DEMO". The dealer did not disclose a rearend collsion until after the offer was verbally accepted. I requested the body shop report and a DME. The body shop report has been " lost by another salesman" and the DME was run. All ignitions were in the first two ranges. However, the total mileage on DME is 12018.00. The carfax odometer shows 7332 miles...How fast should i run away? Can there be any explanation? I have not yet heard the dealers excuse for this yet.

Who cares what dealer's excuse is? Run away as fast as you can!

You can't run away fast enough from this car.

right, but at least there appears to be no funny business odometer wise. The big question is how much should i adjust my cash offer of 63K for what they tell bodyshopwise comprised of a new bumper fascia and paint, no metal....MSRP was 86500

The milage in the dme never ever matches the odometer. You wouldnt belive me if I told you stories of how far off their math was on converting them. range 1 and 2 igntions are nothing.

I am generally skeptical of demos, regardless of manufacturer, bc they are often driven with someone without a vested interest in the car and because they often aren't all that cheap. Sometimes they are used by a manufacturers employees, or for other company business. I found a Porsche in San Diego that had been used for Porsche "events," which -- after significant questioning -- the salesperson admitted included tracking. I would imagine you can get a great deal on a used car that won't have any of these concerns.
