Feeling the Porsche hate lately? .... Hey Douche!

So I get into my 997 and I'm putting the softop down and re-installing my V1 on the windshield. Some kid in one of those box-shaped Scions swings by the back of my car, rolls down his window and yells "Douche!" and speeds away quickly. I wasn't in a terribly sketchy area (brewery/brewpub just a mile down from the local Ferrari dealer) but it wasn't a exactly a nice area either. And no, I didn't do anything to prompt this.
If I had stayed inside for one more beer and arrived at my car 15 minutes later, do you think it was likely that it would have been keyed up?
Any other 997 owners have experiences like this?
The "Douche!" wasn't yelled in a joking way with laughter - it sounded rather mean spirited. /sigh

Tell them to "f**K" themselves and enjoy your car.
Problem solved.

Some people are more blatant when shwoing their jealousy. Just rememeber the best revenge is living well. Ignore them and go on enjoying your ride. I would make a habit of keeping that top up while in the " hood " though .

i must take issue with your gross sweeping inaccurate generalisation. Most of the guys i know buy their cars. some lease to screw the sales tax man.
i propose to you many Midwest people are also facing the repo man by using debt to buy liabilities.

The day this thread began I was cruising down Cabrillo Blvd in Santa Barbara on my way to a beach volleyball game and a guy in a small pickup truck (with some business logos on it) spoke to me as we waited on a light. He said that he liked the car. I get a lot of positive comments,--I suspect a lot of that is because it's an in-your-face color. Also, with the top down, people see you as more open to conversation than someone closed up in a coupe.

I am not making any generalizations, however, the West Coast
does seem to have a lot of bartenders and waiters driving
BMW's and Benz's.
I am simply saying if you see a Porsche or a Range Rover in
the heart of America, it is usually, if not always, paid for
with actual cash--and I mean cash. Not a debt to liability
ratio, or another creative financing method.
I mean $100 bills.
That's how we sleep at night around here.
