Wish they just came standard maybe?
+1 on style. I had them on my 330 and it worked well in poorly lit on- and off-ramps, and curvy roads. Let's just say they saved me from hitting a deer as I was coming around an off-ramp late at night. Without them, I wouldn't have been able to see the deer around the bend a lot earlier.

I am not sure if I would have ordered them. On the Boxster S for 09, the Halogen light on highbeam is a little annoying.

I prefer the look of BI Xenon. I hope no one sees my car and frowns upon me not opting for it. Oh well, I am still new to the game, and this won't be my last 911. I am just satisfied to be on board in an 09.

The funny thing about this option is even on a 157,000 Turbo, i found one with out the option.

If Porsche thought it was essential, I think it would be standard like Bi Xenon is.

And thank god we have bi xenon. It's superior to low xenon and high beams in halogen.
I'm sure Porsche thought about this long and hard. Why would they offer it as standard equipment if it can fetch a few hundred more? Not everyone likes it, and whoever likes it will have to pay for it.

They could have easily made them without the halogen light toards the center of the car. Is that what turns.

It was my understanding that the main healight does all the adjustign, and onhigh beam, a halogen light pops on for added light. (Like Bixenon isn't already enough).

One last question, has anyone heard if the item is retrofitable? Would anyone here ever go through the trouble of addign that feature? I can see if the car lacked xenon... but this is just a corner feature...

Yeah. I love them.. they work very well.

Can you live without them? Sure. You can live without any of the options and just get a stripped-base 997. Thats not the point. Are they usefull - yes (If you drive at night in areas where the roads curve alot and the sides of the roads have lots of trees, terrain - ie not in flat or open areas)

I say NAY too. I have them on my LandRover and they are a great feature I must say. Mostly gimmicky actually. And I must agree with a previous poster that most of us, including myself won't be doing a lot of night time driving. Especially here in the North Country where a lot of deer and moose tend to loiter.

I like them alot. Both my other cars have them (BMW X5 4.8is, BMW 335i)
and they are REALLY nice in a neighborhood- a life saver.

I hate to disagree with my esteemed RL member Tony, but I usuallly dont use
my car on the track at night, so the whole headlight system, it could be argued, is not
needed on a sports car.

When I go to international or national technical meetings, everyone is presenting white papers.
I have done this on occasion. You have the time allotted light bar. Well when its yellow and you are done- time for questions. This has never happened to me, but I cringe when I hear
" I hate to disagree with my Esteemed colleague BUT......" Then you get dragged over the coals
with questions like "how do you justify your numbers in the 2nd column" or "your numbers on the 2nd chart are not really world" "How can you say this is 'Real World....'"

No matter how well you hide your weakest part of your paper, someone is going to find it and GRILL you on it.

I really like the look, however passed when it came time to order my car. Having driven both configurations, I couldn't see a positive effect. The standard setup works fine for me.

so if the lights turn when the wheel turns, havent you already made your decision to go wherever the lights are now looking?

I have them on my BMW. I think they are gimmicky and of limited value. My car came with them but I would not have paid extra for them if an option. I certainly would not want another item that can fail when the car gets older. There are cars where only one of the lights will turn.

Nay here. Have them and can't say they make much of a difference.

a year later. And I lived with out them.

Style wise, i think they looks cooler then the standard set up.

Functionality, I think xenon is enough, but i liked them on my last BMW.

+1. I've had that on my Dad's Lexus and it's really not that big a deal... our headlights are so great there's no need. As others said, will just make them more suspect to repairs.
