I went with a single post lift:
http://www.werther.com/automotive/au...ts/duplex.html
Been very pleased with it for the past few years. Does not take up any extra space in the garage, very low floor loading (can even be used outdoors on asphalt).

Default Turned a Two Car Garage Into a Three Car Garage

When my wife and I decided to "Down size" from a large house with a ten car garage to a town home, my condition was it be at least a three car garage for the toys. Well we found the perfect town home but no three car garages available. I started looking at options, storage facilities, no P car etc... I then started measuring and found a lift could fit.
I bought the Bend Pak (http://www.bendpak.com/products/auto...lifts/hd-9.php) and with only a ten foot ceiling it all fits. Quality is great, 9000lb capacity, $2,600 delivered and about $300 installed by professional crew.
I now do my own oil changes on the cars and can admire the beautiful bottom side of the Porsche engine and suspension. Now the wife has the home she wants and I have my C4s close all year round. I have no affiliation with Bend Pak

With the car's weight being cantilevered, I would expect that the post needs to be very well anchored, such as to a good concrete footing, correct?

Very nice. Is there a limit switch adjustment on the hoist to prevent it from being raised too high?

No limit switch, just mark the lift post, which is close to the pump switch, with the correct hieght for each vehicle that will be stored on the lift.

There are other lifts available with limit switches.

That looks like a 2004 V70R with painted trim or a later model. Are you aware of www.swedespeed.com with a dedicated R forum (http://forums.swedespeed.com/zeroforum?id=51)
