Default Resale Value - Cabriolet vs. Coupe

Everything else being completely equal (same year, same equipment, same everything other than one being a Cab and one a Coupe), which car would hold it's value better after a few years. Obviously I'm talking about percentage drop in price and not actual dollars as the Cab starts off at a higher price.

If there was more of one type produced than another, than I would assume the one with lower production would hold a higher percentage resale. However, I believe I saw somewhere that Porsche produces almost the same number of Cab's as they do Coupes.

So that being the case, does one hold their value (again, % based and not $$$ based) better than the other?

I doubt there is much difference, at least not enough to influence a decision about which one to purchase. That decision should be based on which one you really want. They all lose a ton a value in the first few years, except perhaps the GT3RS.

Cabs hold stronger starting in Spring and are less desirable as Fall & and Winter roll in.

I've found that for most cars, the more expensive the car when new, the larger the % drop as it ages. YRMV

Although in this market the depreciation on the car actually seems good in comparison to the depreciation on my friggin' stocks, I can't see this as a good investment regardless, coupe or cab.

You are maybe getting caught up in making sure that you get a good car for future owners, rather than getting a car you like? Better to bite the bullet, get what you want at a price you can accept, and take good care of it.

The coupes hold their value better than the cabs.

Just ask your Dealership guy!

Few years doesn't really matter, but as it ages it becomes more of an enthusiast/purist vehicle, historically coupe's hold value much better.

But then again these cars are all about want, get what you like!

Porsche Financial Services think Coupe holds value better than the Cab. They have 54% residual on the coupe, vs 52% on the cab. This is 12K/year, 36 month lease.
