PS, I wouldn't suggest having so many cars unless you have disposable income. Even if you do, you might find a better toy to spend it on....
Sounds reasonable, I have noticed some of the same hassles too. The egotistical side of me likes hearing "you have TWO cars??" (keep in mind that at my age this is uncommon) Imagine the ego boost when I would have heard "you have THREE cars?? and TWO of them are 911's!??" Oh well, some day

Just do it.

I have a 02 911 C4S, an 08 M3 sedan, an Infinit Fx 35 and hope to add an Elise soon.

Actually if I were you, I wouldn't buy a third car until I owned a home first.

LOL. In Brentwood, might take you a while to own a house free and clear.

Save what discretionary $$$s you can - we'll all need it to pay taxes and any decent health care we might need in the future.

> optimistically speaking, i could get 8 or 9 grand for the M3. Do you honestly think that kind of money (plus a few hundred a year in reg. and ins. fees) will make a difference in the long run?

Great point - saving money at a young age never really worked for anyone.

> Imagine the ego boost when I would have heard "you have THREE cars?? and TWO of them are 911's!??" Oh well, some day

Another great point - I can only imagine what a huge thrill that would be and worth whatever debt you need to incur to give people the impression that you're wealthy.

You most likely have severe case of Porschefiliaitis. It is thought to be caused by a virus and most likely is transmitted thru contact with the drivers seat during test drives.

The traditional cure is to buy the additional car, enjoy the fever of owning it for a few months. After that the illness will subside and hopefully you can re sell it without losing too much money on the deal.

Porschefiliaitus is a deadly though very common syndrome, happens to a lot of guys.

Very few of the newly inoculated can walk away and _not_ buy the car. If the car remains in the lot unpurchased, the insidious connection between the original driver's seat (source of the infection) and the virus once inside the body creates enormous psychological discord; the mechanisms behind this reaction remain a mystery.

If you chose to suffer maximal intensity of this syndrome and _not_ buy the car be aware that you must suffer until the original seat (along with the car it came in) must be sold to someone else in order for the virus in your body to weaken.

i beliefve you're referring to "Porschephilia"

this is a more common disorder than you might think!

the worst part is that you need larger and larger doses to control the pain. in the early phases, even a Carrera will typically control the episodes. but as the disease takes over the body (actually it typically settles in the Central Nervous System like rabies) you need much larger doese.

some can use GT-3's and TT's for maintenance therapy, but some are so stricken only a GT-2 or CGT will help stop the seziures. and for some... only a Cup stops the agony.

it's awful...

yea it's been festering for a while now, my immune system has started to develop a tolerance for the C2S, but again I refer y'all to my post above where I settle on doing the sensible thing and holding off for now, maybe when I turn 30 I'll let myself succumb to the disease
