Congrats Ron... Another excellent choice. I'm with you 100% about the new suspension - ride height, suppleness, difference between sport and normal, etc. are all huge improvements.

Can't wait to get your track impressions. I just broke 2000 miles in mine this weekend.

Very nice car and with very good options. I totally agree with you about S-PASM, it has a great setup and reacts very well on the road (wich are really bad here).

Hehe yeah some people say that but to be honest it's not that it's "soft" I think it just doesn't "rebound" and move around as much in response to bumps I think the suspension in the .2 is much improved over the .1 . Of course it wasn't long before we installed all of our dog bones, arms, thrust arm bushings etc...

I couldn't agree more. There's so much to the .2 vs .1 and it's much more than a facelift. I still can't believe how well it keeps up with a 997GT3 (stock).

The Blue is so beautiful and agressive on this car. Congrats and best of luck with ownership.

I have 3 days at Sebring with this car...I have a SPORT PASM suspension. This car is NOT soft. I follows the bumpy pavment at Sebring very well, has less body roll and front dive under threshold braking than my 2007 Carrera S.

For the group two questionsas I'm considering updating from my '09 C2S to a '12 C2S as the last of the 997's and prior to the two door Panamera GT (sorry)

1. with the sport PASM I know it is 10mm lower than normal PASM but how is the ride height over bumps, speed humps and driveways. I scratched my '09 under the front bumper cover once on our son's driveway even being careful.

2. Factory short shifter good bad or indifferent? how close to GT3 shifter and I ask that only for comparing as I have driven a 997.1 GT3 a lot.

If I upgrade it will be Aqua Blue with sand beige interior The color is stunning.

Yes Mike, even with my back I have to have one more stick car and just grit my teeth but smile. I have enjoyed the PDK 997 and have PDK in the Cayman track toy.

Umm Guys, This post is from when I just took delivery of the new 2009, which was years ago. I posted interior, track shots, etc. elsewhere. Love the car, more so than my 997.1 GT3.

Car at -10mm is no problem on the roads around here, where the GT3 was so bad I ended up not driving it around town.

I got an OEM sport shifter for $299 from a dealer that posted here a while back. Really great shifter, much like the GT3 though the "return to neutral" spring isn't quite so tight, which is a good thing.

The SPASM suspension really is sublime. Probably the best suspension I've driven on street or track - really is amazing what they created.

I was toying with getting one of the last 997 GTS with the same specifications - wouldn't change anything on my order list. Don't care for the 991 now that info is coming out (electric steering, electric E-brake, 7 speed PDK suspension for both PDK Auto and Manual version, bigger, etc.).

f4, I don't have issues scrapping...just angle it in on steep driveways. Speed bumps on the street are no issue but I hardly ever encounter them other than some at a marina I go to.

For me the Sport PASM is the way to go for a 997. It handles great and makes the car look great too.

Here is my proposed build up

Aqua blue C2S 997.2
Full leather interior black and sand beige
sport PASM with limited slip
PCM with Bose

Bi xenon headlights
auto dimming mirrors
model designation "911"

Still up in the air

either sport bucket or adaptive sport seats.
(have adaptive sport seats in current 997 and sport bucket in the Cayman)
I will let that decision to my wife. I did add alcantera inserts in the Cayman and would do the same in the new car. If the decision is Adaptive sport seats then heated option would be added

Other decision is either 6 speed with short shifter or PDK with sports Chrono

Have PDK in the Cayman and current C2S and like it I realize you will get better mileage and smoother, quicker shifting with PDK, BUT I do enjoy stick when my back permits and the Porsche manual is smooth

I would then eventual consider some aftermarket forged wheels.
