I'm always inclined to at least give a polite head nod. I figured we're in a bit of rarified air as Porsche owners so it's always nice to see another one on the road.
Twice I've driven next to another driver and received nothing but the cold shoulder. Am I crazy for waiting some sort of recognition gesture or are these guys a-holes.
I should say there was one driver that I was next to that did nod back. So I'm batting .333 which in baseball makes me a hall of famer.

Porsche fans give thumbs up or wave to each other.

I waive and then do a search.

When I drive the 83SC and come across another old 911, I either waive or flash. Where I live 997s, 996s are a dime a dozen. With this new arrogant 20-30 something males , I have given up when I drive the 997....I wait till they make the first move.

I usually wave or nod or whatever, but I live in a pretty small town and know most of the Porsche owners. Today I came up on an unfamiliar brand new C4S with temporary tags and it turned out to be the other (former) 997TT owner around here. He traded in the TT for the C4S PDK because he has hip problems and couldn't drive manual anymore.
Dallas is pretty much crawling with Porsches, so when I'm there I guess I don't see much acknowledgement of others.

I wave, flash, and some times blow the horn if I'm passing - usually get a response. Most times when I don't get a response it's from someone driving a Boxster.

I took my new 997.2 (my first porsche) for a nice long drive last weekend and came across a guy in a cobalt blue 997 turbo who waved as he passed by. The funny thing was that I was so busy checking out his car, I didn't really see him waving till he was almost past me! I must've looked like one of those arrogant 20-30 something males mentioned above!

It completely depends upon what element is cooling their vehicle.
