With the exception of one unnamed model, I wave at all Porsches and get a wave back maybe 2/3 of the time. As for the unnamed model- I gave up on them because they never wave back.

From the Old Guy: 70's, 80's, 90's the tradition was Flash - did not matter if it was a 914 or a turbo since the owners had a club feel. Now days there's so damn many on the road that we're driving commodity cars, plus it is amazing how many late model owners have no concept or interest in the difference between a 917 or a 962 or a 944 or a 958. I still flash (other than Cayennes, sorry) but no longer expect a response since I rarely get one.

I wave, flash, thumbs up, you name it to any other porsche owner/driver. I usually get the same back.

I got so tired of getting no response, that I have started flipping off other p-car drivers. That usually works and 80% of the time they flip me off too.

It all depends on my mindset. Sometimes I'm focused on the road and will not pick out a 911 in a string of cars coming the other way (especially when they are blend-in-colored (grey, silver, white, black)). Other times, I'm singing along with the music, looking at the scenery, or just in a foul mood.

Other times I'm wave or salute other drivers in sporty yellow cars..

There's so damn many Porsches where I live in LA that I would be constantly waiving if I waived to fellow Porsches. When I first got my car, I did try a few times, but never got a response. It's LA, and I guess most people are too cool for that.

Now THAT'S funny...

I flash the high beams, and typically nod (911's only, but love acknowledging older ones as well as older types of other Porsches--since they typically get the light flash idea).

Hadn't thought about the dime-a-dozen reason (in So Cal) for not acknowledging other P-Cars. I still think it's one P-Lover acknowledging another with the same affliction!

I almost never see other 911's, but that's okay with me...

Well, that's certainly a higher percentage in the response department than before.

If I flash the high beam, wouldn't they think there is a cop down the road?

I think one blip of the lights is "hello"--while national standard for a warning signal for police is multiple and emphatic blips!
