Default Drive It Home Or Ship It Home??

A 997 that I am close to buying is approximately 600 miles
from my home. I can have it shipped, enclosed, for
$600. I am deciding whether to drive it home or have it shipped.

What is the general consensus regarding driving this home or
having it shipped?

Totally depends on the route home. If it's a 997 - it won't really be a collector with the possible exception of a GT3 RS so I'd be inclined to drive it if the route has the potential for fun.

Don't know where you live, but road trips are always a good time. Especially in a Porsche!

I would like to drive it, it is just a matter of finding the time.

Does anyone have any suggestions for reputable transport
companies around the central midwest. Nebraska, for instance.

Congrats. Drive it home, it's Spring time, get to know you're new 911. The reality is most don't drive their 911's much, so this drive might be the best return on investment you get.

If you can make a nice weekend out of it and it is a nice drive...then drive it.
If its going to be one of those boring non sceenic drive and your attitude is "waste of time"...ship it.

Drive it! I relocated from LA to Delaware, and drove my 996 the whole way. Of course, there was a little Silver State Classic action on the way, but I think Dr. Ing. Ferry Porsche would have approved of hitting a sustained 165mph on Sunday, then driving cross-country on Monday!

Good Day:

If anyone needs a great transport company call Thomas C. Sunday Inc.

They are a pleasure to deal with and are very professional.

Drive it if possible, but if you don't I've had good luck shipping with FedEx Custom Critical. They have a dedicated fleet of enclosed haulers to move cars.
