I have used them for my Audi and they have the same hi-tech equipment and experienced tire installers as any other shop in my opinion.

This was the first I have heard of the new Bridgestone RE-11. I just checked them out at Tirerack. They look nice, and relatively inexpensive too ($323 for 305/30R19). But no Porsche N-specification. Is that anything to be concerned about?

"N" specification comes from the fact that Porsche engineers and Michelin engineers got together developed this tire specifically for our cars.

All I need to know.

Yeah I know. But the new Bridgestone RE-11 tire isn't available in an N-spec version, at least not from TireRack. I assume that's only because it is new and has not yet been certified by Porsche.

i've heard many complaints about the N-spec PS2 for the porsches in 19", but NOT for the non-N spec, and not for the 18" N-spec. i'd put the bridgestones on for sure though.

i'm sure Damon from Tirerack can clarify for us....

as long as the tire size is and the load is the same or more than spec you can use any tire...not N spec.

I have almost 28k on my fronts with the Bridgestones and 14 k on the rears. The rears are the second set. I don't understand it. I have not autocrossed (yet) but apart from my wifes Navagator who got 50k on her tires, I have never seen this on any car I have owned. My old bmw 540i ate tires every 10k on the rears and about 18k on the fronts.
The conclusion for me, even though I add oil every other month, guess what tires I will be buying in 5000 miles?
I would rather spend the difference between the PS2 and the Bridgestones in driving school! That will get me more performance, not tires! Think about the weakest link of the car, and I guarantee it is not the shift lever boot, muffler bearing, or caliper color.
Ciao

I do not think that is correct. Porsche only worked with Michelin thus only the PS2 has the "N" Spec.

Not sure what to say. According to what I know Porsche decveloped the 997 chasis to use 19" rims specifically. I also know that Michelin, which has a long partenership with Porsche (Michelin slicks on cup cars, ALMS cars, Tires developed for the RS Spyders, IMSA cars, Michelin Pilot Sport cups etc......................) developed the PS2 "N" Spec with Porsche for the 997.

I bought my car because of these guys (engineers) and I put my faith on them much more than the complaints of some privateers. The tire and how it works with the car is quite possibly one of the most things so I consider us privilidged that Michelin has a tire specifically developed for our cars.

At the end of the day though pocketbooks and personal experience makes a difference which is why there are choices and each of us is free to choose.

Take a look at the Pirelli's, Bridgestone RE050's they also have the N's. It's not just Michelins who have an N

Did anyone notice that the Pirellis now have a N2 rating for the new PZero. Those Bridgestone's are heavy!! 27lbs for a 235/35/19 n spec...ouch!!

Just replaced my rear PS2's with Bridgestone RE050A's. Had about 40% left on the front PS2's and the service manager at Suncoast said "keep em". Both the PS2's and the Bridgestones have standard rotational thread which makes it perfectly ok the mix the two. What you can't mix according to him is standard rotational thread and V-thread which makes the car "wander".

Why did you choose the RE050A's rather than PS2's? Cost only? I am looking for correct tires with the softest ride. My OE Continentals are too stiff for my liking.
