Sport Shifter

Sort of ridiculous that when you buy your sports car from Porsche you have to add costly sport seats, sport shifter, and sport suspension options to the order.

Definitely unacceptable that Porsche knowingly has a far superior shifter, but chooses not to have it as standard equipment. The Sport Shifter is so much better. Unfortunately most 911 owners will never experience the benefit of the Sport Shifter, if they did, they'd buy it.

That's how Porsche makes its money. Low volume but high profit per car. Porsche ala cartes absolutely everything and charges ridiculous amounts for most options.

But don't quote me on that. I think this has been covered before so a search might reveal more.

Cannot thank you all enough. It was because of this 100% positive feedback that I had the Porsche Sport Shifter installed in my 08 C2S, and I have to agree with those of you that bemoaned the fact that it isn't standard equipment. There is such a different feel, and it makes such a great driving experience that it just a must have.
I also got the Escort 9500ci installed. I'm good to go.

I had an OEM SS installed by my dealer on my 05 997S; as I recall, it was under $200 labor and it should not cost much more than that - it's probably an hour or less job for a good tech. OEM and dealer install does help with warranty issues (I had mine adjusted several times under warranty). My 09 TT has the SS factory installed.

Many happy, safe miles.

I am getting one installed in my 996. A big difference between the 996 and standard shifter on the 997S. Based upon these posts, i am thinking that the sport shifter will be much better; hence, I am looking forward to it. Many years ago I installed an SSK on my 3 series BMW and didn't really like it. But then again, that was a BMW.
