Thanks. It is my favorite out of the 5 Porsches I've had.

I have a silver cab and love it. Fortunate for me that it was in my budget when I purchased in 2005. I am not sure why you would buy something that you couldn't afford or stretching your limits, especially in this economy. If I were you I would shop around a bit more and see if yo could pickup either a new c2 cab or a slightly used one. I live in NY and there are many to be found, not sure about the Mass. market but I am sure with a little work you will find something that you love and that is in your budget. Happy hunting, good luck.

I have to wait for a few months as well to get my car, I want white and am looking at a white/black C4S cab. Good luck in your search!
White is beautiful... I guess the S comes with PASM. Which I heard is awesome... Yea, wait for the right opportunity. good luck too!

According to Paul Frere's book, the 997 was designed as a convertible from day one.

ditto. i own that book. Love the red 997 they have pictured on launch. I think the 997 was the first time a 911 had all the models planned on introduction. i recall readign it was more difficult upfront, but in the end, it makes it easier to design and implement them.

997 is a strong model to be workign off of. .2 is definitely a nice upgrade too... in 09, they did not mess with success, only build upon it..

I love a cab, but you will get more wind and road noise. There are also more groans and creaks, but when the top is down, there's that free feeling, just being out there and the biggest permagrin ever

We have an 08 C2S cab with 1000 miles on it and a TON of options which you could save big time on. I also have an atlas gray 2006 with 5500 miles on it which is about the best looking cab I have seen come through here in the 6 months Ive been here. If you're interested let me know

Thanks! I am in the process of dealing right now. I have to unload the M6 and waiting for the trade numbers. It doesn't look good for now, I'd have to part with some cash that I don't want to do. So, I'll wait a few months, pay down the balance and wait for 15% off sticker on the C4S that I like. I am sure they will have it in a few months. Also, my vote is for the cab. If you are going to lock yourself in for 36 months, get the cab. C2 or C2S, you will enjoy it. I had an 05 997 C2 cab, but went to the M6 when the lease was up. What a mistake! I've had 4 Porsches and getting the BMW was a wrong move for me. BTW, what color are you looking at?

hmm
I'm in the minority but I'd get the coupe. I used to have a Boxster S but I found that I used the convertible intermittently. It just got too hot driving for more than 30 minutes in the blazing sun (I live in LA). Not to mention the hassle of a top eventually leaking, creaks and groans etc. I also have to make a ton of calls when I'm in the car because of my commute so that was another reason not to put the top down. Either way you won't go wrong.

I, too, had a Boxster S and now own a C2 coupe...both as daily drivers. While I loved that Boxster, dealing with it as a daily driver when the weather isn't always perfect, when you're trying to use the phone, or simply trying to enjoy a somewhat quiet, tranquil drive was difficult. Ended up going for the coupe this time around because of those reasons. While I certainly miss being able to drop the top, the coupe is the better way to go (for me) as a daily driver until I can have both. With that said, I also think the Carrera cabrio is a much quieter environment with both top up or down than the Boxster is. One of my best friends has a C4 cabrio and there's much less wind and road noise with the top up, and much less buffetting with the top down, than I seem to recall from my Boxster days.
