2009 Porsche Carrera S Exhaust Soot!
My 2009 Carrera S is a soot factory...it is really unbelieveable how much soot is on the inside and outside exhaust tips and rear bumper of the car after a week of driving. When I start the car up it covers my garage floor and back wall with soot it blows out of the exhaust! My car sooted up even with the stock exhaust but shows more soot now that I removed the 2 side mufflers and only use the rear muffler since the exhaust path is not as restricted. The inside of the stock mufflers is full of soot that I could dump out.
I took my car to my dealer and they kept it for a week and did a full diaognostic check out. They pulled the headers to look into the exhaust valves, did a compression check. Everythng was way in spec but they can not find out why so much soot. I also was burning around a quart of oil every 700-1000 miles. The oil burning has since tampered down to 1/4 of a quart in 700 miles.
I followed my wife in the car and had her floor it getting onto the freeway and a black puff comes out of the exhaust. I say the car is running extremely rich.
So much for the new 2009 Carrera S being a greener car...the exhaust it puts out if filthy. Porsche needs to address this issue with what I would suspect with a leaner cleaner burning ECU fuel map. However I get the feeling that Porsche could careless about this issue.

Same here!
I have a 2009 C2 and noticed the exhaust to be sooty after a few drives. I also noticed the soot on the garage floor. I included some photos. Is this normal for a DFI engine?

Gray911, your tips look fine compared to what I am dealing with. My entire exhaust tips...outside area of the tips and rear bumper get coated in soot. I have to wash my painted garage floor out every weekend now due to the amount of soot that is coming out of my car.
I am trying to be a calm and nice as I can about this but I am beginning to wish I never got this car. The dealer and Porsche North America baiscally are jut blowng this all off because outsid eof the filthy exhaust this car puts out it runs good.

Hmm. 250 miles so far on mine and nothing of the sort. No soot on the garage floor and the tips are relatively clean. And I--uh--have been driving the **** out of it right out of the box. When did this problem appear? From the beginning? What octane are you guys running in Florida (don't know if this would matter???)

Mine has plenty of soot on the inside the exhaust pipes (PSE). I use a quart of oil every 1000 miles (still, since new). Porsche is replacing both sport mufflers and the exhaust tips (PSE quads) tomorrow under warranty. They have been been exhibing a lot of noise at startup that remains until they warm up (and presumably expand). The welds that provide mounting points have cracked.

My pipes at 600 miles. This is my first p-car so I can't compare. I haven't noticed any soot on the back of the garage door or floor.
