Yes, it will just bounce the rev limiter if you do not click on the kick down switch when you press the throttle all the way down. The deal with Plus mode is a highly relaxed PSM and much much faster and more positive up and down shifts both in manual or auto mode.

Added appeal for PDK is when Porsche does away with (they have to....) the awkward push buttons on the steering wheel...not very involving, and just plain weird in 2009.

I just found the buttons counterintuitive to use - and awkward. Playing with the shift selector is fun, however.
What does Jeremy on Top Gear call em? "Flappy paddle gearboxes"

Appropriate for 2005 though.
FWIW (not much, as it was no tru comparison to what we are talking about here) - I was on track in a Ferrari Challenge Stradale-man talk about brutal manu-matic shifitng, it was PUNISHMENT

Still appropriate if you prefer to shift your own gears rather than have the PDwiiK shifter do it for you. It's a tactile, coordination thing, but I guess if that's not important to you anymore then going with PDK make perfect sense.

LeChef: the issue at hand is a 2-pedal vs a 3-pedal solution. I am not making absolute statements saying that one is better than the other, as I think it is personal choice. I just said that HH's comment is outdated - he was not speaking about PDK in 2005. I will go on a limb and say that HH who is the top PSDS instructor may actually like PDK. Others on this forum who will soon attend PSDS sessions may be in a position to check that.

Just an observation here - going back and briefly scanning the previous posts in this thread, it looks to me like those answering the OP's question, "Anyone regret buying a PDK," are answering that they do not regret it by around a 2 to 1 (or better) margin, while the overall responses are weighted in favor of going with a 6-speed manual.
It would be interesting to see how Porsche sales figures are shaking out for PDK versus 6-speed manual. I read somewhere that Porsche was anticipating a 50/50 split.

I'm still really conflicted about which I will order on my next car. This thread has been fascinating but unfortunately hasn't gotten me any closer to a decision.
