Default “My New Basalt 997 Turbo” or “Why rationalization is so important”

This is where I hang out so I am posting in the 997 forum. Apologies to Coochas for my thread title! I'll try to x-post this in the TT section too.

I was perfectly happy with my 997S, but was contemplating ordering a 2010 GT3 and maybe doing a Euro delivery. Meanwhile spent too much time at the dealer getting my wife's new Cayenne S and started getting impatient, and talked myself into a new 2009 TT that I could jump in and drive away right now. I could think of lots of reasons why I should have restrained myself, but came up with lots of transparent rationalizations - too late to turn back now!

Please meet my new TT.
Specs:
2009 TT Basalt Black / Black, 6-speed
Options:
CUC - Painted Model Desig Rear Lid
498 - Delete Model Designation
459 - Steering Wheel Smooth Leather
450 - Ceramic Composite Brakes-PCCB
635 - Parking Assist System
220 - Lmtd Slip Rear Diffrntial Lock
XCZ - Sport Shifter
870 - Universal Audio Interface
P01 - Adaptive Sport Seats
693 - 6-Disc CD/DVD Changer
640 - Sport Chrono Package Turbo
619 - Bluetooth Phone Interface
342 - Heated Front Seats
XXZ - Foot Rest Aluminum
XXF - Red Taillights
CPA - Thicker Leather Steering Wheel
810 - Floor Mats in Interior Color

Only 180 miles on the clock so still breaking it in, but even limiting revs all I can say is DAMN!!!

Beauty of a car. I don't think you need to rationalize it any further.

Looks really sharp, Jim.

But what the hell are you doing wearing Riad's avatar with a dog's mug?

Thanks, Ben! Where have you been hiding lately? You missed all the spoofs on Riad's avatar (mine had my dog in it). Anyway, it was time to change it back so I fixed it.

Ohhhhhh.

Yeah well I lost my job back in October and have been focusing on finding work ever since.

I've been trying to stay away so I can focus on my job search efforts, but every now and then I poke my head in here.

Is that a multi-function steering wheel you have? Do you like the feel of the thicker rim, the CPA option?

Congratulations! That is a gorgeous car - and you are a lucky man.
We used to have several cars in common. You have now upped the ante...considerably.
Nicely done.

Ben, sorry to hear about the job - agree job search comes first, but good to see you here. That is the standard, not multi-function, steering wheel, except smooth leather and thicker; I really like the thicker wheel, feels more substantial and makes for a better grip.

That's great! Seem to recall you mentioned that you bought your '05 S on impulse, too? Dangerous habit; remind me not to go shopping with you.

Ben, sorry to hear about the job. I lost my job in early December. It is tough out there right now. Good luck with the search.

You have quite a memory! The 997S was pure impulse - traded my 5 month old 996 Targa for it. But this was really planned and not impulse.

I was looking for personalized plates on the DMV website this evening - unfortunately this one is not available. Wonder if I can convince DMV it is an acceptable abreviation of "Adaptive Sport Seats"?
