Default Porsche Spare wheel/tire on 2009 Carrera

I thought some folks might be interested to know that the factory spare tire will fit on these cars. Here it is, (the tire is not inflated):

I originally bought this set-up (used, though never actually "used") for my previous car, an 2007 Cayman S. I was curious if it would still fit over the larger brake assembly of the 2009 Carrera, and it does, with a good bit of room to spare (sorry).

Having recently had a sidewall rupture from hitting a pot-hole (on a different car), I really cant imagine not having a spare with me. I am glad this is still a viable solution.

Incidentally, the part number for the spare wheel/tire is: 996-362-120-03

In addition to the wheel itself, you would also want a jack. Porsche also sells one of those too, it even comes with this nice Styrofoam wedge to keep everything nice and neat:

and a nice cover to keep it all tidy:

Almost certainly, as for 2009 the S and standard card have identically sized brakes front and rear. See also this thread:

That still leaves the question of, what do you do with the flat tire and wheel that you have removed when your car is full of luggage on that long cross-country trip.

This spare doesn't fit the PCCB-equipped cars. We have discussed this several times over the years on Rennlist. I carry a radial tire repair kit and it gets me by fine.

If you carry the spare, bring along the largest garbage bag you can find,--or be prepared to toss the wheel behind a convenient tree until you can retrieve it later.

Thanks for the post...nice to know that what I've been lugging around in my trunk will actually fit if/when the need arises.

My Porsche spare tire kit came with a large bag for the flat tire.
