Default 2007 997 key drives me nuts!

The design of the ignition key is poor. It is very easy to accidentally push the "bonnet" lid button unintentionally and pop it up at ackward moments. Does anyone know if it can be disabled? I have no problem using the door sill lever to pop the trunk lid.

I think your dealer can use the PIWIS to change how long the button must be held down to pop the hood. I've never had it done, so I could be wrong. Still, can't hurt to give them a call and ask them if they can do something for you.

Not infrequently, I'll park my car in the garage, perhaps lean over and get something out of the back and then go in the house. When I change from my work costume into jeans, I will leave my car key in the bedroom. Invariably, if I need to get something from the car later, I have accidentally hit the button and locked the car. Nuisance.

Needs separate buttons for lock and unlock as well.

I've install the Smart top device for my cab and it has a delay in the boot release. which is really nice. Among other features. The single best mod a cab owner can make. JMHO

+1. Yes you can!

And if all else fails; go get a NEW 09 designed key. The front boot button on the key is recessed; to avoid this very situation.

I've done it, it is now set at the longest delay before opening, which is only about 3 to 4 seconds anyway, not very helpful, dealer charged $20 or $30 labour...

+10 on the boot key and the lock/unlock. I push the hood down nearly every day. What the hell is going on in my pocket?

Sure, why not? Just like MB's if you have a 2004 MB and order a new key; they replace it with the 08/09 style keys.

'bout a couple hundred I think? Plus reprogramming?
