My guess would be that if you asked them that question the answer would be....... "Huh?"

Unfortunately, you may be correct.

Is there a dealer that frequents this forum who can clear up the issue?

I originally ordered cocoa special leather, but changed my mind when I read (here) that natural leather was superior to special leather, and I was able to have my order changed to dark gray natural because the build date was changing anyway. Now I hear that there might be a natural cocoa??

I can see why a dealer might not want to out himself here, however! Once in a previous life I practiced criminal law, and whenever I walked through "the yard" dozens of inmates assailed me with a thousand questions, taunts, and statements of law containing levels of misinformation from the merely laughable to the crazily dangerous.

I took a hard look at my Cocoa interior today and the marbled look is simply not an issue in real life. In pictures it is pronounced, but in the car (at lease in my car) it is almost not noticeable

After 18 months, I still love it

Dealer called back and said the Cocoa leather was called Velluto Pelle and was aniline dyed. But when I asked if he got the information directly from Porsche, he said he had 'put it together from researching on the web'.

Called PCNA myself and asked about the Cocoa.
The called back and said that there was no 'Natural Leather Cocoa', only 'Special Leather Cocoa'.
Also said it was a aniline dyed.

When I asked about the fact that I had seen a window sticker that said 'Natural Leather Cocoa' they said they didn't have an explanation, implying maybe it was a typo.

Don't know what else I can do. I just pray that what I get looks exactly like the one I saw on the lot that said 'Natural Leather Cocoa'!!!

Thanks for your effort! Quite telling about the quality of information we get from sources who should know.

I'll try and get down there and shoot that car and the sticker. It's not a typo. I think we often know more about these cars than most dealerships.

I compared a sample of Brown Natural Leather and Cocoa Special leather looking at the dealer leather samples they have hanging in the showroom. Looking at the hides themselves it appeared to me that both were aniline-dyed.

My guess would be a typo by dealer, who, as we all know, seem to know less about these cars than we do. I've seen Porsche dealer websites *****-nilly switch "Natural leather" w "Special leather." So, unless i see a new swatch on the online configurator, sounds like it's special leather cocoa.

Cocoa "old" version still has veins visible and that is what some mean with a marbled or even mottled look. However, that is the natural look of leather. Ironic, Cocoa seems more natural than "natural brown" and "natural grey" as in both natural brown and natural grey the veins have been (chemically?) removed or made invisible with dye.

Red leather or Terracotta leather with silver or black or meteor grey metallic would be very nice.

I would love it with a Targa 4S.
