997.2 brakes
Has any thing been published yet that compares the "S" and the non "S" stopping distances?

Braking distances between 911 variants are all about the same, as distance is primarily a function of tire grip; increased rotor and caliper size on the more powerful models is for heat dissipation to avoid fade.

No, we're saying braking distance is not a function of brake size, all else being equal (which it pretty much is between the S and non-S).
Don't believe it? Look at R&T's comparsion between a GT3RS with PCCB and a C2S without:

I think it's the tires that influence the stopping distance on these two cars, not the brakes. Once you are into ABS, which on either C2 or C2S is right away, it comes down to adhesion of the tires to bring the car to a stop. I like the bigger brakes not for the street use, but for the track, where bigger rotors and pads hold up longer than smaller rotors and pads.

A comparison between S and non-S stopping differences would be uninteresting because there's absolutely no reason to expect the distances to differ. The size of the brakes does not impact stopping distances. You might as well throw a temper tantrum about whether or not there's a published comparison of stopping distances between cars with and without full leather.

Calipers and Rotors shouldn't influence this as they are the same pad material pressing on steel rotors. Once they lock up, it's the tires' turn to do the stopping. But, the larger caliper and rotor will help with fade, that's for sure. I suppose this is one argument for the bigger 295s on the rear of the C2S.

Rotors are the same diameter, both have 4 piston calipers, C2 pads are larger, but I can't tell if as large as C2S. Problem with the C2 calipers is they are closed-top, so you can't easily swap pads (have to remove the calipers just like on the GT3).

pad changes on the S red brakes are much easier!
