PASm good idea on base 911 with 18" wheels
PASm good idea on 2009 base 911 with 18" wheels?
Had it on Cayman S and it gave a smooth ride and would tightne up during agressive cornering etc
Always preferred 18" wheels for less road noise, cheaper and lighter wheels should handle as well I think
So what do ya guys think about PASM with 18" wheels on base 2009 911 PDK car?

I think the best combination is a 2009 C2 with the Sport PASM / LSD suspension option. If you go PASM, you are only going half the way. Sport will lower the car another 10mm (-20mm from the base C2 suspension), give you a firmer ride, progressive springs in back, Limited Slip, etc.
18s are the way to go on every 997...

If the car configurator on the Porsche website is to be believed it is not possible to equip a car with PASM and 18" wheels. The configurator requires you to "upgrade" to 19" wheels in order to select PASM or Sport PASM.
Pity, that, if it's true.

Bummer if that's the case - I haven't "built" a C2 so can't say for sure. There's really nothing wrong with the base C2 suspension and 18s - unless you are going to the track with your car, save the $.

Ron, 19" wheels are mandatory if choosing the PASM Sport or (regular) PASM with LSD. 18" wheels are not an option with either of those suspension choices.
Not true. PASM can be had with 18" wheels.

I've got a 2009 Oct 2008 built car with 18" wheels and PASM. So there is no technical reason for it. They did link SPASM with 19" wheels I thought (but could be wrong).
In any case, I'd lean toward not believing the web site configurator. For the longest time, it showed the Targa 4 as a rear wheel drive car, for example.

I just checked the configurator for a base C2 and it did allow PASM and 18" wheels. Also the 2009 997 Order Guide does NOT list any "must pick" options for PASM.
For PASM Sport the Order Guide does list the 19" wheel codes as "must pick" items.

Reports are (Excellence articles) that Gen 2 PASM is better than Gen 1. Last time they liked the regular C2 suspension with 18s better than the PASM with 19s. This time they say Porsche got it right with Gen 2 - learned a lot in all these years since the 2005 was being developed. They loved Sport PASM. So, Sport PASM > PASM > Stock C2 suspension.
As to the look of wheels - I never did get the whole "I have to change the wheels" thing. They serve a purpose, are OEM, etc. Who ever looks at their own wheels anyway? That all being said - I have to say Porsche nailed it with the new Carrera S wheel...

I tried the sport PASM on a 09 C4S pDK in Normal on saturday and I also test drove the 092S PDk with regular pASM in Normal Mode
for me and the roads here Normal PASM on the 09 S In Normal was much more complaint than SPASM in Normal and still handled great
09 911 base can be had with PASM and 18" std wheels, only when u needs the lSD or the SPASM( lsd is included in this ) the base 18" wheels will need to upgraded to one of the 19" Wheels
I thought 09 PASM was very good on 09 S models but should logically work well also on 18" wheels?
I am thinking PASM would give the 09 base 911 a little bit more complaince in Normal due to 18" taller rubber and still tighten up when cornering etc

Once you add PASM to the base, what does the effective price delta between the base and the S become, similarly equipped as far as other options?

What else is in the S (other then the engine of course) to makeup the $8K markup over a base equipped with PASM? OK, the 19" wheels are standard. What else do you get for that $8K in the S?
