Heads Up on the 997.2 "Issues"

Maybe it is a new option...just order the badge you want and they will stick on it. By the way, that badge doesn't look level at all.

BTW, it didn't look like a 4 to me, as the width of fenders by the edge of the right tail light didn't look like a WB.

I agree with your dealer. My car definitely has some small detail issues particularly with the paint but also the rubber seals on the roof and other areas even the leather on the steering wheel. It's all minor stuff, but for $100k you'd think they would get it right.

It's a completely different part, the 4WD deck lids compared to the 2WD. It would appear that whoever ordered the parts for that car messed up. The assemblers are just bolting things together,--they don't really look at what they're doing since they have 55 minutes to assemble a car. This one really is a Carrera 4 cabriolet according to the wider body and the Monroney sticker,--but someone slapped on the carrera 2 deck lid! (Personally, I like it without it).

The workers at the factory must be working 1/2 time, since production has been cut back so much. Unless they have a UAW style contract where they are paid even if they don't work, they are probably unhappy right now so their attention to detail on the cars is lower.

My 997.1 came with "Carrera S" illuminated sills instead of "Carrera 4S."
They also screwed up with the 3.8l thing and shipped my car with a 3.6l twin-turbo plant,.... but I don't talk about that one.

Agreed! Even tho it is a different part it is still "bolt on" (or someone spent more than the usual allotted percentage of the 55 minutes relating to the deck lid reconfiguring the same )- Porsche should give its buyers the call on the strip. Let the market decide.

Dan did you establish that it was indeed- a mistake?
About 2 yeasrs ago, we had a C4S Cabriolet with Carrera Sport Wheels- I was walking around the car just admiring all the little leather and contrasting stitching peices......
...When I noticed a MASSIVE Wheel Spacer on the Rears............ I mean- this thing was HUGE! After talking to my parts guy, and a couple others I concluded that they (Porsche) ran OUT of the correct offset wheels for the C4S cars and put C2S wheels on the rear - and made a custom wheel spacer!
Porsche doesn't offer (at least to civilians) a wheel spacer that big. Huge.
Before I sold it I pointed them out to the client, and made sure it was noted on the purchase and sale agreement that she (yes, she) didn't care about them.
But man that was weird. LOL
