Default GIAC on 997S

I did research but couldn't get exact answer for my question.
Please help me on this.
I'm considering to get chip upgrade from AWE-tuning.
Is GIAC chip working well on 997S?
Is $995 from AWE GIAC (+10hp and +10 ft./lb. torque) worthy?
Or which chip upgrade kit do you recommend?
And why?
Thank you and drive safe!!

I believe that Softronic is the best ECU upgrade flash. What I liked best about Softronic is how they work with the ECU parameters and the fact that you can revert back to a stock ECU. Also because you do the actual flash yourself you can check and make sure that after your car was at the Porsceh dealer they did not reflash back to stock with any ECU upgrades and if you do more mods to your car Softronic can zip you a new file that you can upload.
I had Softronic in my 07 and could definitly tell a difference especially at the track.

Most ecu upgrades can easily be returned to stock now.

I had a GIAC reflash on top of AWE full exhaust system & Evo airbox. 7 rear wheel additional horsepower, measured on AWE's Mustang 500 dyno. Strong midrange & better throttle response.

Do some search on the 997 forum, many threads on this topic.

Another fan of Softronic. I know the guys that create it and had in my 997S and have it in my GT3. Do a search on things like "Softronic", "Giac", "REVO", etc. and you will find many posts on this subject.

I have softronic and have several other friends that also have it...bar none, the best flash you can get done. I have nothing but good things to say about it.

I have never been a fan of Flashes on NA cars, and you have to ask yourself, $1000 for 10hp? That is a lot of money for a little power. Spend it on driver training, it will go further then the extra 10hp and you can take it with you when you sell the car.

BTW, I have had the GIAC flash in my first 997C2S, and I didn't notice any improvement.

It appears the cost to benefit ratio is not really worth it.

That depends on if you or the person buying the software feels it is worth the $100 per Hp.

You can't buy this on a $ / HP basis. If that's the way we all thought, nobody here at the forum would be driving a Porsche. The Softronic I have does many things and I didn't buy it thinking $1k for 20 HP is only $50 each. I bought it for optimizing based on the fuel I use, the adjusted throttle mapping, and the added 20 HP and 21 TQ doesn't hurt either.

I have heard that the Softronic is the one to go with on the Porsches, the GIAC that I had did nothing IMO for performance, and is a lot of money for a little gain. A flash on a FI car is a much better impact then on a NA.

I truly believe APR is the best and not just because we are an APR dealer but I have been running APR software in every single car I have owned for 8 years.

Here are some of the tuning steps they take.

http://www.goapr.com/Porsche/product...7carreras.html

APR is the only tuner in the world that has EMCS technology.

EMCS a program which APR uses so that no only can they store multiple programs on your ecu so that you can switch between each one such as stock, 93, 100 octane, valet, security, anti-theft, Fault code erase, and Throttle body Alignment, But you can access these programs using your CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH.

Simply turn the key to the on position, set your cruise control to the on position and simply hold the set button till your gas light blinks. Each blink per second determines the program that your selecting.

You can also lock out your software or even lock out your car as well just using your cruise control switch.

Fault Code Erase allows you to clear out your own CEL lights and when the temperature changes drastically or at higher altitudes, you can use your Throttle Body Alignment program.

Give me a call if you would like to know more about what they have to offer.
