Are you guys kidding! Ruf wheel looks totally 996! One of the ugliest wheels you can put on 997, IMO. I LOVE the horn symbols! LOL!
I'd stick with OEM steering wheel upgrades!

Er, I think you mean "Probably looks ok on a Camaro but not in MY cars!" That is unless you've been given the responsibility of speaking on behalf of all Porsche owners. See, the OP wasn't asking for opinions on which one looked best. Rather, he wants a thicker wheel and he was inquiring if anyone had any experience with the models he listed.

I had a RUF style wheel on my 964, that I bought years ago from AJ-USA. Looks almost identical to the RUF wheel and I'd be they were the same. At any rate, I loved that wheel.
The one on my C2S is way too thin, and I'm planning to send it to Dallas when I have a chance, unless I hear more negative reviews. I think I'll be asking them to turn the rim into the RUF style, with extra padding/thickness, and the bumps at 10 and 2 positions...

It just looks wrong, it'd be ok for 996 or older cars but not for 997. There are OEM options both leather and Alcantara that IMO provides the feel OP is looking for while still looks like a Porsche and modern.

I upgraded to an XPA wheel and love it! (thanks Ken) what I love is:
-the feel of the leather, soft and smooth, much nicer quality than the standard leather wheel.
-thickness is perfect, not over the top, just right
-I like that it is oem

Yes, that looks a little thick, but I think that's the direction I'd like to go. Besides the thickness, which can be specified, I'm concerned about the diameter, which I'd be stuck with. I wonder what the diameter of the sport wheels are, like the RUF, as compared to the stock S wheel...

The XPA wheel costs over $1500 new... It looks good but at this price, I would expect a bit more. The RUF wheel does look a bit "retro" which I don't mind, but my main question is regarding its thickness vs. the sport wheel. I am trying to keep the cost down to $1K or less.
