Funny I read this. My car also have an factory installed SSK and sometimes at full stop(like waiting at a traffic light), shifter does not want to go into 1st gear. Feels like a shift gate preventing it. I had to press the clutch a couple of times for it to go in.

That is a "feature" of the 997 and it isn't limited to the SSK.

Hmmmnn, Ive never heard that before. i know that the 1st gear shift gate engages when you're moving at speed so its hard to do a money shift/prevents shifting into 1st gear. and it opens at lower speeds and full open at dead stop.

omg, got new cables, shifter, everything replaced under warranty and the shifter is maybe 6 times easier to shift...like shifting through water rather than hot caramel...anyone with an 05 997s still under warranty should get their cables changed...never felt so good even compared with my previous 997s 2005. like a new animal...thanks for all the help

Yes, I occasionally I experience this situation from a dead stop. Really frustrating when the light turns green and your trying to engage 1st and have to settle for 2nd because I don't want to be honked by drivers behind me. Lately, I have experimented with tapping the throttle before engaging 1st and seems to work.

I experience the same thing find that if I "blip" the throttle before shifting into first, it always works odd quirk but when it happens, at least I now know what to do
