Dang so there is one thing a chrysler crossfire has over the 911. The crossfire sounds like the back half of the vehicle is breaking away as the spoiler extends.

It would be funny to have the sound loop activated when the spoiler goes to extend. Passenger asks : "What's that sound?"

"oh its the sound of a crossfire I recorded that plays whenever my spoiler extends." - polish cuff- "its a DIY mod."

And you're saying that's a good thing, that it's an advantage the crossfire has over the 911:

The tail comes up at about 77.5 mph indicated, which is 75 mph actual. Use a large black panel truck or SUV to confirm.

I was behind a 996 around town and his was deploying around 50MPH - I don't know if it was automated or if he was activating it.

Several of the other Porsche models have different deployment speeds. The 964, for example, deploys VERY early. I routinely watch my speed carefully to KEEP from deploying mine if I can avoid it.

Remember, once deployed, they add to the drag on the car.

Maybe it's all in my head, but when i step on it and go from 50 - 80, I feel the car squat down and get the sensation of it hugging the road. Having said that, I've never actually witnessed the spoiler deployed on any reflection... just trusted Porsche's words that the thing deploys above 75. I will ask the Mrs to follow me in her bimmer and check out my rear as we joyride on the Hutch Pkwy....

Is that what you meant to say? If you have her on the cell phone she can confirm precisely when you get it up.

Default How do you know if the rear wing works?

...you could take it up to 100 and then ask the cop who stops you, to replay his dash-cam

I see folks with the wing up all the time in traffic or parking or just boppin around town...I think that they like the looks of the wing up and deploy immediately upon leaving the house.
