Default How do you know if the rear wing works

The rear wing supposedly extends automatically at 75 mph. The indicator light only lights up when I extend it manually. So how do I know that it actually extends automatically? You can't see it in the rear view mirror and it doesn't make any sound that I can hear. Maybe I could get my wife to stand on the seat and look out the sunroof while I drive 80 mph.

How do you know the refrigerator light goes out when you close the door? (assuming you don't have a glass door).

Porsches have a fault light that will come on IF the spoiler does not deploy at speed.

If you really must know, I'd recommend that your wife try to look out of the back window from the rear seats instead of sticking her head out of the car's roof at 80 mph....just sayin.'

EDIT: BTW, there was a somewhat famous RL thread about this a year or two ago. OCBen,....you there buddy? One member wanted to attach a coat hanger with a flag to his spoiler to confirm deployment (or something like that).

You would get an error beep shortly after passing 75, and another when you drop below 75. It would also show up in the center display.

OK, OK,....I got it.
Jack up the rear of the car and put it on jack stands. Run the car up to 75 mph and either use a floor mirror or an assistant to confirm spoiler deployment.
Note: Using the technique on a C4 is not advised.

Have your co-pilot check it in the reflection of your car on other cars. That's what my wife did.

Btw, to the OP, it's a spoiler not a wing.

No need for the mirror, just put a brick on the gas pedal and check it out for yourself.

With the C4, just make sure to use 4 jack stands so all 4 wheels are off the ground.

Very simple really...

That's what I did to confirm it worked. I just ran her up to about 100 to make sure while we were on the cells talking (33% guardband never hurt nobody)
