I read that they closed due to the dealer's financial issues, not poor car sales. Lambo wouldn't extend any more credit to the dealer. Although I'm sure Lambo must be feeling some of the impact of the market downturn.

So Lamborghini dealers are the first to fall? Makes sense, those buyers don't have alot of brand identity with the car - like Ferrari buyers. It's a pure impulse "I got some quick cash" buy - so those are the first to go.

All this talk about the incredible depreciation that our cars are taking makes me think that perhaps I should drive my C2 year round in Suburban NJ. I could let it get attacked by salt and sand. I could wash it maybe twice all winter. Given the huge supply of 997s and the presence of 997 MkIIs, it's hard to see that the value in 10 years of a summer-only car with 50K mi is going to be much different than a more rustic daily driver with 100K mi. Time to throw in the towel and drive year round?

Question Discounts Via Email

A local SoCal dealer just emailed their YE clearance discounts:

A good starting point for price negotiations on their whole '08 inventory?

Notice in the email, they say in fine print, only 1 at that price discount. Bait and Switch?

That, my friend, is the best attitude I have ever heard on the 997 forum. I love it! They were meant to drive so drive them! Home Depot trips, down dirt roads, donuts in snow covered parking lots. Do it.

Nothing cannot be fixed or washed.

Why wouldn't you? I just swapped onto winter rubber on Sunday.

It's a car. Made in Germany. Where it rains. And snows. A lot. It wont melt or seize up or mysteriously explode if you take it outside when the sun is behind the clouds........

Great thread. Went to trade in my wifes 07 H2. Drove it home with my head resting on the steering wheel.

Meaning keeping it in the garage for the next guy vs. driving it all year long...
