funny if it wasn't so pathetically true. You know the party will really come to a halt when you see the Credit Card companies up in front of Congress begging for their handouts too.

btw, when does the new Cayman S come out

Or just someone with a lot of money. Have seen a number of 08 cars with less than 500 miles. "High end clients" is what the dealers have told me. Switch cars like most of the rest of us switch socks.

Another problem is so many people are upside down in their auto loans.

I have a client who wants to trade in her 07 R 500 on a Q7 - she hates the R 500.

When we worked out a deal, it turns out the most we can give her for her car is $30k and she owes $38k.

Makes it hard to come up w/an attractive monthly payment.

i find that a bit odd. BMW CPO sales are actually up for september (and i believe october) as well as YTD. BMW's increased CPO sales are actually mitigating its huge drop in new car sales. so, at least with BMW, it looked like people were staying away from new cars and focusing on used.

if trade in values are that low, it means that dealers are still making good margins or people are buying CPO's for very good prices.

This happens a lot. But I suspect the 'switch' buyers are going to get smacked around for the next few months.

or not. LOL

Only $8k upside down for an R500?

We just bought an 06 R500 with 39k on it OFF auction for $19k!!!!

*keep in mind values are REGION specific.

No/Yes. Keep in mind that the typical used car inventory is about 45-60 days old. High volume dealers (such as us) try and flip our inventory (mercedes benz wise- NOT Porsche) every 30 days. It helps keep cost's down and allows a dealer to dig deep on the trade in w/o fear.

We NOW have fear about the used car market. So those numbers you're seeing are reflective for inventor that's over 60 days old. I suspect you'll see November numbers really down for November.

Please call her and say that. She was pretty upset when we told her.

I we're giving her top dollar for it. And selling the Q7 for next to nothing.

It's funny, she thinks it's more valuable because they quit making them.

Um, the reason they quit making them is no one wanted them.

Glad I exited the car swap merry-go-round a year and a half ago. But have to admit that incentives on new cars make the updated 997S attractive.

Trade in? That assumes I want something ELSE! What are they thinking??

Drive what you have. Be happy.

And she knows that. She needs to 'feel' out the market. Back in 06 when Benz was throwing tons of incentive cash on the RClass to market it people have, not their fault, a warped sense of reality regarding the R Class.

Sadly, the new 09 R class is brilliant. It's what the 06 should have been. But they will, eventually, kill the R Class all together.

MB has not ceased production of the R Class yet FYI. *nice jab tho! bastard! lol

But DRASTICALLY scaled down production.

Follow up with her and make sure you help her along the process. (And she's probably going to shop you on the Q-it's not like AUDI can give those pigs away either! LOL )

Get rid of it NOW.
I guess I will drive the crap (already have) out of this car instead of giving it away for $19K!
