Default My car eats nails

Screws, bolts, whatever. Third one in maybe 3 months, same tire (right rear). Should probably be patchable again. (The second nail apparently wasn't all the way through, so the tire only has one patch so far).

Patchable no doubt. Watch where you drive, namely the right side and avoid speeding near construction zones.

Debris tends to accumulate along the sides of roads -- if you "miss" a few more apexes on the street you might save your tires.

It seems that my tires were particularly attracting nails, etc. during certain times,--when they were quite new, and with only a few thousand miles on them. It seems that they attract less when they get more worn,--don't ask me why. The right rear (for us in the USA) is usually the one most likely to take the hits.

my mechancic told me the right rear is the most prone as it is on the inside near the curb, where debris accumulates ALso, something about the "exact" speed of the car is what makes it more prone...if you hit the sweet spot on speed, a) the front tire straightens it up, and then b) the rear tires gets puntured for some reason, this sweet spot speed is in line with that experienced in parking lots (as opposed to highway speed)

Often the front tire flips up the debris,--and the second tire over it strikes it

Actually, we did a POLL on Rennlist about 18 months ago and factoring out the UK drivers with their steering wheels on the other side, the RR tire was the one taking the majority of the hits.

3 nails in the RR in 2.5 years. 2 of them were unpatchable. Last time, got less than a month on the new tire.

+1 RR for me 2 months ago. Never thought about the RR as most prone to nails before. Happened on a new tire with less than 500 miles.

That's strange. I recently had a nearly identical looking screw (hex head with flange) embedded in my front tire. I had to unscrew it to get it out.

Thankfully for me, it was in the meat of the tire and was short enough that when I unscrewed it, the tire held pressure.

Unfortunately, I had already replaced all four tires with my snow tires believing I was going to need to bring these wheel elsewhere for repair.
