Default Front trunk space on 997.2 C4S FL ?

Has the front trunk space increased on second gen. 997.2 C4 due to new all wheel drive system ? On 997.1 C4 the front trunk area was compromised relative to the C2. Thanks.

Nope.

C4/C4S =3.71 cubic feet
C2/C2S = 4.41 cubic feet.

throw the bags in the back on the jump seats.

The front end is identical from a structural point of view to the 997.1 and, for that matter, is more or less the same as the 996. The AWD system moving to PTM from viscous couplinig has not changed the space at all. The front section also happens to be virtually identical to the front of the Boxster if you really want to be honest. Some people may be upset about this, I for one am not at all, as I have no issue with modular construction leading to economies of scale.

The size of the trunk on any 997 is laughable. The back seat is useless for anything but children, but does serve well to supplement the trunk. 3.7 cubic feet looks like about 4 bags of groceries, assuming nothing else is in the trunk.

I find the trunk size actually very usable. Can get a bit hot, but, apart from that, fits a duffel bag and hiking boots nicely. You can then fit two large suitcases in the back with the seats down, and slip a briefcase and jackets under the seat backs. Actually, if you ask me, I think this is a rather important differentiating factor versus its competitors where you have much more limited space constraints. And by the way, you can fit a kid or two in the back as well as an alternative....

I thought there was more space in the 997.2 than 997 because of some reworking to the radiator? I'm sure I read this somewhere.

I have to agree with 996FourEss. There is actually a lot of room in the car. Personally, I have made the trip from the cold of New England to Florida with the car absolutely packed. In the boot: Griot's Garage orbital detail bag, 2 quarts of oil, a small cooler, 4 pairs of golf shoes, a golf ball **** bag, a gallon of windshield washer fluid, and a soft sided duffle bag that measures 28 l x 20 w x 16 h. In the back seat: a hard sided samsonite suitcase that measures 34 l x 30 w x 10 h, my Club Glove half hard sided travel cover, my 11" staff bag, my wife's 8" golf bag, a boat bag with snacks, my briefcase, my wife's carry-on suitcase, and a couple of jackets. Quite a bit of stuff....

All the while driving at an average of 76 MPH and getting 27.0 MPG.

The back seat normally holds my 11" staff bag and a smaller carry bag for my clubs.

Not what I would think of as "laughable" at least in my opinion.

There's more usable space in a 997 than there was in the two cars I owned before it. It's my only car and I don't have any trouble getting things that need doing done.

I suppose it would be nice if I could fit a set of four track wheels and tires in the car, but there aren't many options where that's possible and the 997 is hardly unique in failing that particular test.

You know, sitting outside on a fine Sunday evening in the meatpacking dsitrict about four weeks ago (still possible in NY this year, great), I saw a guy driving his 997S back from what looked to have been a track day. He had the Porsche roof racks on, a flat surface "rack"between them and four slick tires tied down. Actually looked like a pretty decent solution....
