I have 33,000 miles on a 997 2S with a factory short shift. It is still hard to get into 1st sometimes when it is cold. Some days yes, others, no. Not completely consistent. I still prefer it to the standard shift, which has a long throw and is vague.

i was always told(the guy i bought mine from) let the car sit for a couple minutes and warm from the end of october through the end of march. go through the gears and raise the rpm a lil(1500) after 2-3mins. when all is said and done everything should be fine, maybe a little stiff but much better if not warmed.

my stealth never gave me issues in the cold with the 5spd.
