Default Car back from Body Shop, help!

As you may recall my black 07 C2s got egged a few weeks ago, it's been at the bodyshop for the last week. I picked it up yesterday and once I got home noticed the following problems.

1. The tailight that they had to remove doesn't look right. There's a bigger gap on one side then there is on the other. I assume they can adjust this?

2. They put a 12 inch scratch in my hood

3. They basically ruined my clear bra. They must've buffed it, but it looks like they took a key to it.

4. There is a glob of white paint on the front of the car.

This was a highly reputable body shop and it is who dealer recommended going to. What should I demand? Do I demand a new clear bra? If he says they can get the other scratches out do I let them? If their detailer did this in the first place do I really want him around it again?

What makes me so mad is the panel they repaired looks quite good. It appears that all of the damage except the tailing needing to be adjusted was done when they washed the car.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd recommend that you take it back, find out who you need to talk to, and say the following:

"Hey, I got my car back and I'm pretty happy with the work you did on the panel in question but I have a couple of concerns about the work. Would you be able to come out and take a look at the car with me?"

Then calmly point out the areas in question. I wouldn't start making demands before they tell you what they might be willing to do.

Good luck...

Be calm and polite but be clear you are very very upset.Demand everything to be as it was,and does not look repaired in the end.Remind him you were recommended by the dealer.Get clear bra replaced and not fixed if not perfect.
Good Luck

It sounds like your car was vandalized again.

Thanks for the responses guys. Just so I'm prepared, there is no way to buff scratches out of the clear bra is there?

Sorry to hear this. It sounds like they did not slip the head lights' torx screws into the proper slots, which then makes it pop out. As for scratches, it depends on the depth....run your finger nail over it. If it catches your nail, then there's no way to repair that. Hope it works out for you.

Sorry to read your woes! That sucks.
As for point 4, bring it back to the shop and say, "Hey, is that a glob of white paint on my hood or are you just glad to see me again?"

Sorry to hear of your woes. I agree with the others who have stated that you should be very nice and point out the items you believe happened while the car was in their care. It gets a little sticky once you take the car home and come back with a white paint mark. Good luck.

Nope, that's why we have them, just remove and replace. You can tell buffer damage, the swirl pattern on the plastic.

Also, ask if the shop as video cameras outside of the shop if they left your car outside. I would hope they kept your car inside for repairs.

Again, calmly point out the issues. Make no big deal of the tailight which can be adjusted, but your more concern on the damaged areas.

Good luck and hope all turns out well.

Have you taken pictures when you dropped the car there as a proof that they were the ones responsible? Like everyone said, if they are a reputable shop and you are nice they should help you out. Otherwise, you need to tell them that you will complain about them at the Porsche dealer ship who is apparently bringing them lots of business. Leave the pressure for later though...Good luck!

Always taken photo of your car before dropping off for repair/body work that will take over night to fix. This way you don't have to try to prove anything. A picture is worth a thousand words. I always try to let the shop see me taking photo as well. Do a walk around with tech as well.
