Knowing modern manufacturing methods I would bet that they are fully interchangeable. It would be nuts to force a change to such a series of complex parts just for cosmetics.

I also think that it will be only a matter of time before Eric (the bumperplug guy) has a replacement painted insert. You would still have the seam, but the reflector would now be body color.

BTW.....the reflector on the C4s & C4Ss appears (per the pics) to be flush w/the lid. This would mean that either 1.) the reflector is paper thin .... or 2.) that the 4 lid is different and indented-contoured to accomodate the reflector thickness and maintain the flush line.
I would love to have this clairified........but it will requre someone standing next to the car.
'Official' launch date of the 4s was originally pegged at Oct 25. I would think pretty soon we would be able to find that person ..... standing next to one.

Well, golly. What does that tell ya.
Somebody over there must have been pretty in love w/this idea (to create a seperate lid part number just for the 4) ..... and make it more difficult for us to 'fix' this.
If you are one of those that feels it needs fixing .

I'm reserving judgement on fixing it until I've driven my Targa 4 around for a while and lived with it. Putting an insert in with the resulting seam is not a good solution, if the new insert is only body colored.. it will look like there is something missing from the back lid. A full lid replacement is expensive.
Especially since my car will not have model designation on the back end, I'll have to live with it and see.

What are you thinking you'd need to paint, on the C2 decklid, before mounting on a C4?

I would think body panels from the factory would come unpainted. That would be great if I'm wrong.
I think you're correct in that it appears the AWD reflector sits in an indentation. So, it seems the lid off a C2 would fit. Edgy01 pointed out that from a manufacturing and cost perspective. Aside from the indentation, why would they produce 2 different lids?

No you are correct....panals and body parts come primed, that's it....at least per my experience. Sorry, didn't understand you were talking a new part.
I will be 'fixing' this, in one way or another.
