Question Interior room for tall 6'4'' driver

Hello- first time poster and new to Rennlist as a paid member as of a couple of weeks.

Here is my question. I am a linebacker sized (please no fat jokes!!!!!!) almost 6' 4" tall. I currently am a proud owner of a 1992 American Roadster, guards red, black top, grey leather with black piping.

It is a tight fit for me in this fine vehicle. I am interested in upgrading to a 2007-ish 997 cab, and am wondering this:

Could you members give me any feedback regarding whether I would encounter a more roomy interior in the 997, or if any of you have modified the rear-word seat travel to accomodate larger/taller drivers.

Thanks so much for your assistance, and please note I did a search that did not help me.

I can only guess (I have a 997S and I once had a '93 RS America, but I'm only 6'), but I am confident you will find a little more legroom in a 997 and should not have a problem. I have the adaptive sport seats which are highly adjustable and might work for you, although if you are particularly broad you might find the standard seats more comfortable.

ur a big dude. damn.......but that having been said; i've sold a few P car cab's to clients your dimensions or bigger.

Much more room in a 997. Go to a dealer and try one out. If you're near cleveland, I've got a 997 cab you can try. 08 and 09.

I'm also 6-4 and the convertible is more headroomy than the coupe because of the sloping roof in the coupe w/sunroof. The convertible has a thinner roof of course, and was more headroom comfortable in several seating configurations. You will want Adaptive Sport Seats since they provide the most vertical room in the car, unless they're not wide enough for you. You have to try them out.

Even if you're going to buy from somewhere other than your local dealer, you really should sit in them first to be sure. For the coupe, I found that if I moved close to the wheel I had great headroom but then my legs were jumbled up, but if I pushed back so my legs were comfortable then my hair was touching the sloping roof!

I am 6'5" (but only 195lbs-no skinny jokes) with a 2008 cab, standard seats (power) and really have no problem with head height or legroom with no mods to seat. Try it, you'll like it.

I am 6'4" 235lbs 38" waist, relatively wide frame, about 33" inseam, so a lot of my height is in my torso. I think you will be shocked with the room in the 997. I was. As soon as I sat in it and lowered the seat and then felt above my head and still had 2 fingers of clearance I heard angels singing in my head.

In contrast in the 2008 Z06 I felt like I was a sardine and it actually convinced me not to buy it. Why buy a car you don't really fit in?

I am 6'-3", 250 lbs, with a 36" inseam & 36" sleeve length. Most of my length is in my arms & legs. My 997 Cabrio with adaptive sport seats has suffficient room with the seat all the way back &tilted a little bit. I would really like to get the seat another inch or two back, but legroom is is adequate as is.

The wind deflector does not fit due to interference with the seat. Porsche has been aware of the design blunder with the wind deflector for several years, but has chosen to ignore it and do nothing.

Im 6'2"... 225 and have no room problems other than when the wind deflector is up I have to watch how far I tilt the seat back. Headroom is good also.

Thanx so much folks for the thoughtful replies!!!!!!! Good information here and gives me great hope I will be comfortable in a new to me 997. Next is to get in one myself, as we will be in Scottsdale in 4 weeks and think I will hit that very nice Porsche dealer there on automobile row.

Now to sell my 3000 mile (3K) 92 american roadster and start searching for the perfect 997.

Great forum here and glad I have found it.....

6'3" 230 lbs and no problem in 2005 C2S coupe. I don't even have the seat all the way down. BTW - Ask for Mark in sales during your visit to Scottsdale Porsche. No affiliation, etc - just a nice, honest salesman. Good luck.

6'6" and 235lbs, no issues what-so-ever with the 997. Not even a problem wearing a helmet......
Now my 87 was VERY tight and my 97 was a little bit bigger than the 87.

I know a guy with a Yellow Gt2 who's 6'4" and I'd guess 260-270 (body builder). He looks way to big for that car when he's driving down the road =)
