Default Comfortable backseat (if you are three) ...

My daughter Caroline spends 98% of her on-road time in my wife's Honda, so I when she asked this weekend for a ride up and down our street, I had to say yes. I plopped her in the back, and within about 5 minutes at 15 mph, she was sound asleep with my schumi hat as a blanket. I think the sport exhaust must be comforting to her . . . (apologies in advance if this photo is too large, it's only 78K, but appears unusually large to me.)

Thanks - I thought some of my fellow dads on the forum would appreciate it. It's a bit off topic, but I couldn't help myself.

She's an amazingly photogenic little girl. But don't be fooled, she has her demanding moments as well!

That's a great pic.
I totally love that name Caroline. If our second was a girl we would have used that name.
Do you sing Neil Diamond to her?

Cheers

Very cute photo. In some jurisdictions, it is illegal not to use child seats for kids that size, which makes it a challenge to use those rear seats in the Porsche. Yup, 3-year-olds can be very cute, and demanding. Luckily(?) I'm old enough to be dealing with 3-year-old grandkids, which are less demanding because as a grandparent I'm allowed to spoil them.

Many thanks - we've been known to sing Sweet Caroline it to her, and I can't wait to take her to Fenway Park for the first time to hear it sung by 35,000 people.

Ken - Massachusetts happens to be one of those jurisidctions you describe. That means she doesn't get many rides. I've given my six-year-old son a number of rides in the front seat using our booster, however, and I did have the latch system and airbag shut off switch installed at the dealer.

My 18 month old son rides in the back of my 997S Cab all the time.... and almost always falls asleep in there even after only a few minutes drive.
I have the Tubi exhaust, so perhaps the louder sound really does put them to sleep ? (wonder how he will be when he grows up if he's soothed by race-like car sounds ??;-))
He rarely sleeps in my wifes X5

That's a great picture. And your daughter is an angel (she certainly looks it there!).

As the father of two (grown) daughters, I can so relate to that shot. When our first daughter was quite young, we had a '67 Beetle. She would hop in the storage spot behind the backseat with her "blankie" and a favorite stuffed critter. A couple of miles down the road with that little air-cooled four-banger humming right behind her, she was out like a light!
Your shot is just a modern-day (and slightly more expensive) version of what Dads have been doing for years and years...and loving it.
Thanks for sharing.

I love the story about the Beetle - when I was around 5 or 6, my father would perch me on top of several life preservers from our old skiff and drive me around in his Saab 96 (complete with "Made in Trollhattan by Trolls" sticker). When my mother was with us, I'd fall asleep on long drives with one ear against the partially open rear windows. Funny how nostalgic those experiences seem now that I've got my own kids. And GR997S, don't worry, I feel old too!
