Default How to remove 997 gauge needles?

I have a set of painted OEM gauge disks for 997, taking the gauge cluster out and opening it is pretty simple. Problem is I cannot find info on actual removal of the gauge needles- Which is required in order to change the face disks.

Anyone have info on this?

TIA-

"...taking the gauge cluster out is simple....." REALLY? gee.....I've been trying to figure out how to do that for TWO YEARS! Got an annoying rattle back there somewhere.

Please share - how'd you do it?

Instructions are covered in Porsche workshop manual 902519 "removing and installing instrument cluster".

The noise you are describing is covered in Porsche TSB '997 9 22-05 Noise In / Near Instrument Cluster' published in 2005.

You can obtain these materials as a contributing member of renntech.org - It would not be fair to Loren at Renntech for me to distribute them.

Draxa- Gauge cluster removal instructions have been publically posted here: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index...0&#entry114651

To stop the rattling, line the bottom and corner edges of cluster and the rear clips with some felt tape.
These felt parts can be obatined from Porsche, just have the parts rep look up the pieces referenced in the TSB "997 9 22-05".

Or just have the dealer do it under warranty.

You know the car has been back thrice for this; eventually, the same old 'small-piece-of-metal-against-plastic' vibration starts again. Once I thought it was the join between cluster and housing and I 'felted' it. But that wasn't the problem. This is definitely a rattle as between two parts.

I'd just love to know how to remove the cluster so I can do it myself (I'm obsessive about these things and will happily spend an entire weekend on it.....).

Some brief, clear instructions from someone vwho has actually done it would be wonderful. (I am a contributor and do have access to renntech)

Draxa - the "brief, clear instructions" are at the renntech link in my previous post. I don't know how much more clear it can be... There's even pics.

Thanks - I got it now. However......point '3'

3. Unscrew the two fastening screws 1.

I am not seeing any screws. I guess that there is this plastic fascia that first needs to be removed? How does that come off?
