Default bilstein damptronics

i have a 997S with PASM and am considering adding Bilstein Damptronics and sway bars. i track the car enough to want the suspension upgrade but don't want to give up my comfy daily ride.

does anybody know the difference between the PSS10 and the B16 Damptonic? i'm having trouble tracking down the details here. thanks,

brendan

As it was explained to me by a tech at Bilstein, the Damptronic shocks are continually making adjustments as the car is driven based on your selection of dampening. You still chose between street or sport mode via the PASM button, the range of results are significantly different. Additionally you can adjust the ride height to your desires....

I have a NIB set I've never opened if you're interested as I'm selling my car....

Talk to RonCT from this forum. He did this mod on his 997S and tracked it some.

Ron sold his damptronics to me and it has been the best mod on my car by far...

The stock shocks are pretty good, but these are even that much better.

Very much so....

The ride feels closer to a 997 GT3 (normal and sport). With the stock shocks I always drove around in sport because the car felt "floaty" to me, but now I drive in normal with the bilsteins. The rebound/damping is far superior than the stocks, which makes the ride more comfortable to me.

I have the Damptronics and sway bars along with a good re-alignment, and it's wonderful street and track. Firmer but much less sloppy. Every time I go over a mid-corner bump I smile about the improvement.

Go for it, best upgrade you can do, imo.

What is the approximate cost? Also, while the stock suspension only really allows for ~8500 miles on rear tires, what is the effect now? 5000 miles?

Out here around $600 labor, shocks and bars around $2K if I remember correctly.

I couldn't care less about tire wear, but it has nothing to do with the shocks, it's the alignment. If you dial in the most aggressive possible alignment like I did you'll still be less than 2 deg neg camber along with reasonable toe-in, so I would guess minimal change. I haven't really noticed any difference.

I had my wheels track aligned. This help get rid of the push.
I bought a H&R rear sway bar and shaved off 4 secounds a lap.
Very easy fix to add. The front sway bar requires you
to remove the hoses and drain the radiators.

Cool

I know RonCT posted (I'm sure you'll find it of you do the search)that he had shorter laptime with the cars OEM PASM/stock setup than the Damptronics at Glen. He also mentioned that the Damptronics were bouncier for him on the rears.
