More or less yes. It was a construction zone that funneled you to one lane which was a breakdown lane (still paved) over a bridge on 91 in VT. Slowed down to about 45ish but didnt anticipate or have room to manuever the hole in time!

LOL Right and they will pay it too right? If I thought I would get anywhere besides wasting my time I would!

Actually, some localities DO live up to such obligations. We as drivers are taking for granted that the roadways are safe to drive upon. If the locality fails to maintain that roadway they suffer from claims in which the have failed in that obligation. I have lived in areas where you as a driver are entitled to a claim against that locality. It's worth a call.

City and county of Denver paid for 2 wheels and a 4 wheel alignment after I photographed the end of a scarifying section on a major street. All they wanted was a receipt for the repair from the dealer and a letter of explanation.

Don't be afraid to make a phone call.

That wheel looks permanently trashed! And most like the tire too.

I took out two wheels and one tire on a pothole, which was a 90 degree cut into asphalt where the fill had sunk about 3". Unfortunately I was real busy at work and didn't file the claim with the City of L.A. in time.
