Flat battery Question

I just discovered that my battery is flat. I stupidly inserted the key which after reading the manual i should not have done since i now cant remove it.
It seems that the only way to get to the battery so i can recharge is to hook up a donor battery to the fuse box to open the luggage compartment so i can get to the battery.
Once i have done that i intend to hook it up to my 12v trickle charger, is it necessary for me to remove the battery to charge or can i leave it in place?
many thanks
cheers

You can leave it in place from my experience.
But...if you have a dead battey...as in wont hold a charge. A tricke charger is too liitle too late.
You will need to Jump start or use a device that has a battery boost feature to start the car and get a new battery.
It is discharged form not being used, a trickle charger probably will not be enough power to charge it anyway but may work if let it charge it long enough and the battery accepts a charge. You would need a real charger..not trickle charge. A "trickel" charge is only really good for maintaining a charge...not charging.
Hope this helps.

If the battery won't hold a charge it is due to sulfate on the plates. The way to correct this condition is to apply an excessive charge which will buckle the plates causing the sulfate to flake off. There are devices on the market which pulse charge with a high amperage which have proven to be successful at bringing a battery back to life.

This is why when parking my car I always look for a little kid who will climb in the trunk and stay there until I want to drive it again. If the battery goes belly up, the kid can pull the glow in the dark handle, open the trunk and give me easy access to my battery.

Thanks everyone for the help. the good news is that when i hooked up a donor battery to the fuse panel i was not only able to open the trunk but was also able to remove my key from the ignition.
The bad news, as soemone predicted, is that while my trickle charger is showing that it is charging, it has been like that for 24 hours with no sign that the car battery is receiveing a charge, so i guess i need a new battery.
Do i need a 'porsche' battery or can i just go anywhere for a car battery?
many thanks again for the help

On a lighter note, I've heard of a tire going flat, beer going flat, but never a battery going flat.

Yup, just what i did. Also picked up one of their roll around units that can also crank the engine or charge at a high rate.
