Not bad at all. Should put to rest any comparisons with the new M3 that came in around 8:05.

Being an '08 owner, it is nice to know that the difference between the "old" C2S and the new around the Ring if you row your own is only 4 seconds. I would have guessed that the power increase would have shaved more time than that.

Good performance improvement but it is funny how the article states that a Japanese car is what Porsche has to live up to. Nissan is not sitting idle, so it is unlikely Porsche will catch them anytime soon.

So then the 15 seconds between the (about to be) current 997S and the M3 is an eternity?

Anything under 8 minutes has always been considered "ausgezeichnet."

Pretty amazing for a n/a 911, and I'd love to try the DSG (PDK) in the new car.

The Turbo may or may not be much faster, but that's the GT2's area to excel, right?

turbo doesnt have much more advantage on twisties. Its pulling out onto the long straight aways that the extra power comes in handy. 7:50 is quick!

Maybe not quite such a difference as first appears - only the PDK car was fitted with"sport tyres" (cup tyres?) according to the article and I would have thought that a bit chunk of the time difference between that car and the manual was down to that.

Normally at Sebring where I track R- compound tires shaved down are good for 4 or so seconds per lap.

This is total marketing cra.. "Sport tires" are totally different than the standard PS2s. PDK puts a lot more weight in the car so my guess with the same tires and same suspension the manual and the PDK probably run very close. Even Rohrl rolled his eyes when he talked about the weight added by the PDK.

Him rolling his eyes so to speak was regarding the weight of PDK on the GT3, not the 997S.
