Default growing pains

Just stepped up from a 996 C2 to a 997 C4S which is a wonderful evolution of ownership. Curious as to whether my 19x8.5 and 19x10 Iforged "Mesh" wheels that really filled out the rolled fenders of my NB 996 will fit my WB 997?? I realize the offset requirements are different and queston whether the issue can be safely/efficiently corrected with spacers? Will the stock Pirelli 19 x305's fit a 10" rim?

If I'm out of luck with my Iforged wheels, what/where should I be looking at for an agressive looking 19" or 20" street set up? Although a bit "tuneresque", I'm still a big fan of the deep dish look rears....especially on a WB.

Yes, pictures en route.

Thanks in advance!

These are Champion RS 98's (19/8.5 & 19/11.5) on my C4S. Drop's about 1.25" (H&R's). Kinesis F110 look similar.

Sand...I always DROOL when I see your car, but please tell me the honest truth. a) as a daily driver, are the champion H&R's too rough and tight for daily commuting, and b) while I certainly know that increased tire wear is a function of sports car ownership, are you simply chewing thru tires with that lowered ride? Still, I am Very tempted, as it looks so much more damn aggressive and sweet.

Very, very nice. Which supplier did you use? Approximate cost for wheels only? I have the full F77 upgrade from Champion without the body-kit/wheels...RS 98's would certainly be fitting.

Honest truth.....I doubt you can tell the difference in ride comfort. Mine's a DD too and I push the pasm button often to remind me I'm in a sportscar. For me, "normal" is on the soft side with or without lowered suspension. That measly 1.25" does make a difference in seat of the pants feel though. The best driving position in the world gets even better as you move closer to the ground.

Tires........got 12K out the rear PS2's but the wear pattern was nasty. The inner 2" were worn bare to the cord while the outer 6" looked like they had 50% left. Was riding around on 2" of rubber basically. Suncoast did a complete realignment with the new tires and they said there was plenty of room. In other words.......it probably wasn't realigned properly when the H&R's were installed.

Champion Motorsport:
http://www.championmotorsport.com/997RS98.htm

Invoice for wheels:
Front...$1,126 each
Rear...$1,326 each
(excluding tax)

Amazing quality wheels and among the lightest available. Don't have the exact numbers but even the rear 11.5" beasts weigh just over 19 lbs. They got the finish right too. Always look brand new after a bath no matter what I've put them through.

Very helpful, thanks! If you were at the pre-order stage again, would you order the exact same set up or are there details you would change, including going with an entirely different wheel?set-up?

I'm happy with it so probably no change. Always liked some of the HRE wheels but that's more bling (and more weight) which I really don't want. The RS98's blend in nicely with the factory package imo. as opposed to a lot of aftermarket wheels that look........aftermarket and out of harmony. For the drop.......coilovers instead of springs maybe but for my purposes it's just not worth the price difference. BTW.......contrary to what some have said, PASM continues to work exactly as stock with lower springs.

Offsets are wrong from your 996 and in the wrong direction. Spacers would only push them further out. 305s will not fit properly on a 10" wheel in fact 305 is questionable on an 11" (though it will fit). RS98s are wonderful wheels - you can get them from time to time for about $3k used but in new condition if you are patient. 20" wheels on a Porsche?!? 19 is bad enough

Had the Iforged wheels (actually 11" rears) off my 996 test-fitted on my C4S and strangely enough, the rears fit perfectly with a 10mm spacer. Won't "need" to replace them, but likely will regardless. The combination of the ever helpful forum input and a side by side "weigh-off" with Techart Formula II's at my local dealer (Pfaff), make the 19" Champion RS98's seem like the best choice.
