Default Key stuck in ignition

My key is stuck in the iginition, its in the neutral position and I can move it left and right but it wont come out. Let me add that the battery is dead/disconnected. DO you guys know if this is a porsche safety feature? Does it lock your key in place if there is no power? Ive never heard of such a thing, but the manager at the shop tells me its a security feature.

please help..

thanks

Sorry to hear that... a battery jump will do.

What amazed me is that.... today our car has enough computer power to driving itself to the moon, but can't prevent itself from draining out the battery?

Can't they just make the car to text-message my cell phone when the battery juicy is low, or to cutoff the battery before it is drained so to preserve the last juicy for the starter? Something like that... Sorry for the rant.

With best regards,

This situation is detailed in the owner's manual, which everyone should read cover to cover.

Still don't understand why Porsche cannot make headlights that shut themselves off automatically.

The same reason they won't put an extra button on the remote for a dedicated lock and unlock function.

Porsche headlights have been shutting themselves off for decades. Why didn't yours? You can't run the headlights on a 911 with the ignition off.

If they were running there is a system problem with your car.

Are you using the "Home" lights? I'm not sure how long they stay on, but those are the only lights on mine that work without the ignition on.

But you have time to deal with issues like this? In the time it takes you to resolve this, you can read the manual cover to cover, and possibly save time in the future by avoiding other issues. Time well spent!
