Valentine 1 in mirror?
I have seen some of these on Ebay. Does anyone have one and is it for a Porsche or is it a hack job? Thanks.....GR

alot of high -end aftermarket (sterio) shops do this job and do it nicely. they disassemble the mirror and bead blast the mirror backing. then take apart the valintine display(which probably voids any warr.) and fit it into the mirror. iv'e seen it done very nicely and, iv'e seen some rediculous hack jobs. do some research!

But the $100 question remains, where does the antenna go? (If you want the rig to remain low-profile). These mirror modifiers never really come clean on how they mount (and where) the head unit. That's why I wound up remoting mine my own way. (See: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...e+Installation (I'm in the radar and antenna business so I can't stress enough the importance of mounting your radar receiver as high up in the car as you can to maximize detection range).

I think they only put the display console inside the mirror not the main unit. Actually, I don't see the point of doing this. The main unit will be right next to the mirror anyway.

i have my V1 etched in my mirror. if i remember correctly, the unit itself is in the nose and rear bumper. the volume button is installed on my center/rear console b/w shifter and ashtray-- very professionally and factory-looking.
i think it's great and would strongly recommend it. causal testing with my other v1 confirms sensitivity is the same. in fact, i think i will do the etched-stealth install on all my future cars. after using this setup, it's just seems so archaic and cumbersome to have a black metal box attached to my windshield (how i do on my other car). also, i got pulled over for speeding a while back in my other car, and after the cop saw the v1 (after he already issued the ticket), i noticed him glancing at it every once in a while. that made me a bit nervous.
my install was done by a very reputable shop through the dealer. install by previous owner so i don't know install cost.

I had one in my 996. Some of you have probably seen why the mirror worked for me...
The guy at the below link will mod your mirror, but as everyone says, why do it if the V1 is right next to the mirror-makes no sense in that situation.

I had my rearview mirror etched by Manhattan Motorsports (Bobby Singh), the guts/antenna of the V1 are concealed just above the two rear seats. There is also an additional antenna that was wired through to the 3rd brake light.
Coincedentially, i am selling my 997 to make room in the garage for a Turbo -

This is my 3rd car that has had the etched mirror. done at Technik 1 in NYC, cost like others said is around $2,700. Also had them do a laser jammer, which is hooked up to the V1 display. Meaning, if the unit is "off" and I get hit w/ laser, I will still get an audible and visual on the mirror. Very cool.
Wouldn't have a car without this setup. The ultimate in stealth and works GREAT. I love people who say it won't work, yet have no experience with it. I also have a V1 in my company car and have mounted it in my porsche to see if I lost any sensitivity. I did not.
If you have the $ to spend and access to a good shop (could easily be a hack job) go for it.
