I guess you guys won't be driving your cars into states where detectors are illegal, as you display them in the open?

Virginia is I believe the only state in the nation where it is illegal to have a radar detector... Long way from Denver.
I had the same setup in my 996 when I lived in Charlotte, NC... No problem when I went into VA... Just took the radar detector out.

How to hardwire a Radar Detector is very simple job and takes no skill to do it. It took me 30 min to do mine the first time and only 18min to do my friends car. Very simple.
One tip I have is to use a plastic credit card when pushing the wire under the headliner. Dont use anything sharp like a screw driver where you can leave scratches or pinch the wire.
Great Job

or instead of making a notch on the side of the fuse box, you could just route the wire right in the fuse puller tool existing hole.
Good Post.

Three Wheelin'
I ran my wire down along and through a little slot where the "door" / cover tabs fit in. Takes a little care closing the cover, but has been fine for years now. I also got some matching connectors at Radio Shack that I put on the fuse tap so I didn't have to splice any wires or cut up the SmartCord. This was handy when I took out the SmartCordLive and replaced it with a normal SmartCord for the 360 I just got.
