I'm currently in the process of having mufflers modded by FisterD. Haven't done much else.

What is the top of your list?

Best bang for the buck: disconnected the orange plug for my PSE. Cost: $0.

Aside from that, I can't think of anything I want to improve that comes at a reasonable cost. Everything about the car delights me the way it is.

I flipped down the rear seats to lower the center of gravity -- zero dollar.

Direct contact between you and this machine - it's all about the shifter.

And we stock it at $199 every day.

+11. Those who describe this mod as "a waste" should probably order tip on their next car.

Default Guess this was at the top for me....and the whole list!

I haven't picked up my car yet but this is what I have done so far, most very reasonable in price mods. Hope when all said and done the car comes together nicely..... 05 997 seal grey and black interior. If anyone has any other recomendations please feel frr to comment. But again think these were nice touches and most got at decent prices after some hunting.........here is whats on top and my whole list!

1. Clear side markers (OEM from ebay $29)
2. Porsche Nostaligic Aluminum Gas Cap (just a fun piece 125 OEM ebay retail 180 I think)
3. Silver front seat belts (OEM from ebay 350 retail 800)
4. -Bumper Plugs- key whole plug and bumper plugs painted (like 50 bucks)
5. Clear 3m bra, some mentioned already and agreed (795)
6. Firmware upgrade for NAV and new updated maps (got deal)
7. Tech Art coil overs (bought from another forum member 1850 shipped under 1K miles on them retail 4800+)
8. Silver Gauge Instrumnt cluster (new OEM ebay 350, now selling my black, retail at dealer $2000)
9. OEM exhaust S tips (used ebay 99$ OEM retail $? but I know more then 99$)
10. Sent S tips out for black ceramic coating ($60.00)
11. Possible muffler hack for better sound but waiting for this to see how I like the stock set up sound....this is on hold.
12. Front lip chin spoiler Hamman paid retail.....no deal here.
13. RUF 19 wheels+ tires..... this is my last thing and then I am done for a while.....not prchased yet, hoping to get used and just missed a nice set last month....if can't find will buy new.....winter here so car won't be on the road for a few months so have some more time....

By far, the cheapest and most effective mod is draining your Mobil Water (0w40) from your cranckcase and replace it with a better oil. You'll find that your engine will perform better, last longer and leak and burn less oil. Your bearings and journals will thank you.

OK, what oil? And you feel that Mobil One is inferior?

I never said Mobil One is inferior. I stated that Mobil 0W40 was. The minimum viscosity you should use, IMO, is 5W40 - 5W50 in colder climates and 15W50 in warmer climates.

Do you have durability testing results showing superior wear results when using these other oils? You make an intriguing claim, I'd just like to see the back up that supports your opinion. Makes me wonder what the hell Porsche was thinking when they specified the oil for these cars.
